My arrived two hours after I came home from work. Everything for the most part is setup. Right off the bat let me say that the stand for the OG PS5 is better than this slim stand. Lol. The stand for the OG PS5 had this really good suction that I got the sense that it was firmly sticking to the foundation of whereever the console was placed. This slim stand however not so much. One little push when plugging in the usb cable and I had the Pro titled back off its foundation. Lol. On the other hand, the Pro design is based off of the slim and it does feel lighter than the OG PS5 so that could also have played into it.

  • PS5 Pro replaces FSR with PSSR to scale the resolution. This causes noise and artifacts in all reflections and ambient occlusion.
  • In performance mode, visual problems become more visible due to rescaling from lower resolution.
  • In addition, the sharpness output is lower on PS5 Pro. The implementation of PSSR is simply not good.
  • These noise and artifact issues are also visible in other games like Alan Wake II or F1 2024, but not like this.
  • In terms of performance, we have better overall stability, but it still fails to achieve stable 60fps on PS5 Pro.
  • There are no changes at the visual level or graphic settings.
  • Against all odds and in the current state, PS5 brings a better Silent Hill 2 experience than PS5 Pro.

Alan wake 2 shimmering is post patch and caused by poor motion blur layering imo.
SH2 is before patch, looks like broken dynamic res or UE TSR

Whoa, everything is boiling on the Pro Performance. Wonder if they can fix it.

Seems like it since they are claiming PSSR in video. Also you’d expect it to look the same to PS5 if no patch was applied, but result is different

Just checked the comments section of the video.

The Pro update hasn’t gone live it.

Why the results aren’t the same I have no idea.

Looking different while on the same code makes 0 sense and would be troubling for backwards compatibility if it can’t be relied upon for giving expected results.

Suspect comments claiming no patch are hopium.

Actually very happy with the Pro so far.

Tried GT7, FF7 Rebirth and Stellar Blade.

Huge IQ and performance upgrade in Stellar Blade and FF7 Rebirth. Stellar Blade even runs at 80fps with a VRR screen.

GT7 looks really nice with RT. I hope CDPR is working on a Cyberpunk Pro patch. Would love to see how far they can push RT on a console.

I'm gonna try Metaphor next. According to DF it's running at a locked 60 now.

And is it just me or does the new disc drive sound quiter than the original model?

Impressions so far.

It's honestly a gamechanger. DRASTICALLY improves game IQ and keeps the resolution and frames at base quality in pro performance mode. Games like Stellar Blade, Horizon and SM2 list so sharp and crisp, FF7 Rebirth and Rise of the Ronin no longer has that washed out look... ROTR in particular needed a cleaner look as the graphical fidelity was never anything groundbreaking, so the dips in framerate and washed resolution was always off, that is a thing of the past on the pro. As of now I think Forbidden West on the Pro is easily to best looking game right now on console.... and that's cross gen. Whatever Guerilla is cooking next is going to be nothing short of incredible, runner up I would actually give it to Stellar Blade, it's such a crystal clear ass game lol

I personally went from 825gb to 2tb and it's nice having 20 games installed rather than just 7 (usually only 3 big titles at a time.)

For damn near $800 I think a lot of people are fine with sticking to base if they already own one, but I would heavily recommend newcomers with extra money to spare to get the Pro instead. Difference can be night and day at times, Metaphor for example, the framerate is now 100% locked at 60, on base I had a very choppy experience on base so now wish I waited.

Horizon 2 looks amazing on the Pro. We're talking PC image quality here.

I think another game that will benefit greatly from the Pro is Ghost of Yotei.
