I am optimistic because PS5 Pro enhancement is a dev issue and Sony has some of the best devs in the business.

And now those devs are:

-Releasing less games/games more slowly because of PC simultaneous development
-Have more bugs/glitches in the console releases because of the above (sometimes well after the console version, like with the GOT update when the PC port was announced)
-Making safer/less creatively ambitious games due to increased AAA costs and higher licensing fees (see: Insomniac with Spiderman)
-Reorganizing internal dev pipelines after they got screwed up with overzealous GAAS plans that were significantly changed a few months ago
-Less regions for thematic (both storytelling & game design) variety for 1P titles

Pro enhancements being a dev-side thing means most will phone it in and underutilize the hardware. Most of Sony's 1P won't push the system both because of the increasingly prevalent PC strategy and also because game scope for design is never targeted towards Pro models.

you also forgot include affirmitive action and DEI which increases cost even more.

L0 and L1 Cache amounts don't make sense.
RDNA3 uses 64KB L0 per WGP / 32KB L0 per CU. And then it has 512KB L1 per Sader Engine.

In the end we should be looking at 1.92MB L0, 2MB L1 and 4MB L2 on the PS5 Pro. Basically it's ~2/3rds of the N31 in the 7900XTX.

As for the rest, I don't know why Digital Foundry keeps insisting on Variable Rate Shading Tier 2 as if it was something relevant, after 3.5 years of compute solutions showing similar results with similar performance.

hard to believe it will be all 60. i need to see it for myself.
It's 60 out of 64 total.

This is all true and it's sad to see minus Sony exclusive games coming out with more bugs. Only one I could think of was Spiderman and even then I rarely experienced bugs.

Games are more expensive to make these days so all of this is to be expected. Sony devs are still world class and I trust them to deliver meaningful PS5 Pro enhancements.

They need to go talk to Sucker Punch who made Ghost of Tsushima and it didn't cost more than 80 million was open world, had great combat and looks phenomenol.

That dev kit design is so weird lol, every time i look at it I'm confused.
personally, i like it a lot. if you put some fine material tuning and blue lights, it would be lit.

it almost like masterfully looking Ford GT40 or Jaguar XJ13 :D

With all honesty, it's just inflation, and incompetence.

For example, The Creator film costs $84M using mostly pro-consumer and low budget filmmaking tools that are accessible to many, while other $300M+ films look worse and not as good. Tech has become so accessible and only dinosaurs are trying so hard to stick to as expensive as possible methods to milk big publishers' money.

you have few big names, it is already 40M-50M, extra cast and we looking at 60-70M.

Space Marine 2 will have Pro enhancements then, awe yessss.

You mean Helldivers 2? Yeah the 1080p looks fine but the rumored 1440p with PSSR upscaling to 4K should look way, way sharper and clean with less to no jaggies. I feel like crying when I see footage of Helldivers 2 on high end PC's that look so good and clear which really also improves your gameplay slightly.

Hopefully the Pro will let us play Helldivers 2 at 60fps with the same graphics fidelity as the quality mode.
