The games. I don't play the console in isolation, and I spent more time on PS2 than any other console before or since.

Full backwards compatibility with ps1
Could connect to the psp
Cheapest DVD player at the time
Pressure sensitive buttons
Some games like GT4 let you play at native 1080i
Great library of games
Might not be long till 60 million and that is about half way to PS4 numbers.
If they want to outpace PS4, they really need to hit 70 million by the end of 2024 fye.
I'd still put PS2, PS3 and PS4 above PS5 due to game releases and exclusive games so far but it could change if they improve a few things and stop doing ports to pc.
Still having a great time with it and wouldn't game anywhere else though.

Basically missing at least 2/3 of December sales including the boost in Christmas.
Probably will be around 53-54 million at end of 2023.
In shipment terms over 55 million easily.
This looks like the PR way of saying : we don't think we're going to hit that 25M FY target we had set.
Like he says, it's still a metric ton of consoles moved, but that number was always very ambitious to begin with.
They didn't discount that much during November and December is/was not that aggressive ( compared to let say Xbox ) so they're not sacrificing margins just to try and hit it. At the end of the day, it's just a target.
One week longer to 50 million even with two years of major supply shortages.
