Folks can insert whatever flavor of interpretation into these news but for the doom and gloom tone takes.... this is also the guy that had that studio churning out arcade shooters until they hit a wall, almost studio breaking and upgraded, with a Sony partnership, into AAA. That is to say, the L's must be counted along with the W's, and there is a lot to be said about helming a studio churning out games with such a low ceiling for so long.... which inevitably puts the studio in jeopardy at almost every release - responsibility of which lays greatly on said head of studio.
HM next game will say a lot, and not necessarily about this departure. They got a formula now. Can they replicate and improve with a fresh twist? That's the AAA paradigm. A great example of continuity is Sony Santa Monica, despite game directors shifting all the time, per title basis.

It just means that HM is fully going to make movie games now.
That guy is the arcade guy. Housemarque is like the only big Finn studio besides from Remedy. Don't want them to go through Remedy foot steps either.

Ah yes, after like the 50th exec leaves their post from Sony, it's our fault for pointing out the obvious. Very convenient that all these people waited until this year to retire at the same time.

No. This guy directed only 2 games, and was programmer in a few more. And Housemarque is a 28 years old company. They will be perfectly fine without him, specially now that they are way bigger than before. They are over 100 very talented and experienced people.

Remedy just released a GOTY contender in Alan Wake II? After a successful Control. The dud was the GAAS wannabe. Remedy is fine. Specially outside MS/Xbox partnerships.
People whine and meltdown on this forum so much. There's a serious lack of understanding about how things work.
As in generally in development companies ppl continuously move around and leave companies. Only a select few of top devs usually stay and even they get tempted by offers and get tired of same development and move on eventually.

The world needs a Housemarque 4k classic compilation including Super Stardust HD, Dead Nation, Resogun, and Alienation on Steam/PS5.
