Let me guess, you are one of those who think moving sliders is all it takes to make a game run everywhere?
Square Enix could be most incompetent devs on earth, imagine, they moved that FF16 slider whole year for 1 platform

I didn't say that at all, but it's quite incredible how you gone from a reasonable poster to a miserable sap in the space of a few weeks/months.

Sorry if I somehow offended you with my comment, it has just become difficult to distinguish between people like you, who simply don't know about the matter and might've been fooled by some "wannabe expert", and the clowns who spread misinformation.

Yes, games are made on PC, no, it doesn't mean they are supposed to run on them without the game being "prepared" to do so.

Excellent move if it goes through. They have history in working together, Totoki is looking to expand the IP production house and (manga) publishing and the cherry on top is a top tier studio for PS. Value wise it would be excellent.

People claiming they don't have the money are so off track they had 5 billion left from the previous rounds (with Jim and the corp) for acquisitions and Totoki said they throwing in an additional 8 billion totalling to 13billion last year. Let alone they tried to get Paramount for 21 billion recently, this deal is way more fruitful for multiple aspects of the business.

FromSoft has evolved and grown into a 10-20+ million seller studio and they are productive; they can easily get slam-dunks with sequels on Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, Sekiro, Elden Ring. Make trilogies or go on a new IP, possibilities from collabs with Bluepoint/XDev on a technical level would be also huge (I mean Armored Core collab with Guerilla on Decima, a man can dream)

It is worth mentioning that in addition of From Software Kadokawa also has some current and legacy stuff:
  • Acquire (Tenchu, Shinobido, Way of the Samurai, No heroes allowed!, Akiba's Trip, Rain, Octopath Traveler, Mario & Luigi: Brothership)
  • ASCII / ASCII Media Works (co-creators of the MSX)
  • Kadokawa Games / Enterbrain (Lollipop Chainsaw, Killer is Dead, Demon Gaze, Metal Max, Natural Doctrine, Darius Burst Chronicle Saviors, Langrisser I & II remakes)
  • Media Factory (mostly GBC and GBA shovelware, but include some interesting stuff like Wizardry Trilogy SNES port or the SNES+GBC ports of Columns)
  • Spike Chunsoft (Dragon Quest 1-5, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Tetris 2 + Bombliss, 999 Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors, Shiren the Wanderer, Dangaronpa, Jump Force...)
On top of this, they also get most top Japanese gaming mazines, gaming artbooks, game guide books labels: Famitsu, Enterbrain, Dengeki, Kadokawa Shoten, Arcadia, ASCII...

And well, in addition to this many anime, manga, movies, tv show, books and music stuff particularly tailored to the Japanese market (very important for Japan, but outside maybe only some people care about some anime/manga stuff they have).

Remember the shitstorm for Helldivers II? This will be much worse and Sony once again will bend the knee.

Oh no, not the angry PC mob. Please anything but that. Sony has felt the wreath already, they shiver to face the prospect of enduring that again/s

We dont even know anything about the deal but you already come with a change the goalpost to psn accounts.

PlayStation Studios games require it. Bungie don't and From won't either. I mean they can try if they're really that stupid. Remember the shitstorm for Helldivers II? This will be much worse and Sony once again will bend the knee.
Lol they only reveresed helldivers 2 psn requirment because they had sold it already and people who had bought it would no longer be able to play it.

PC gamers will bend the knee whether you like it or not.

This isn't the stop. This is just the beginning. Wait until PlayStation gets their phase for doing M+A moves. Totoki has accented that he wants to acquire IPs for entertainment and gaming more than several times. Current rumours say Falcom, JP GAMES and NeoWiz. This three in 2025 and Sony is bsck im the game.

I havent been fooled by anything, it's more like day-by-day you become more like the other two bellends on anything Sony related. I'm also not sure how a PC dev build of Wolverine getting leaked is significant.

I see a lot of doom around PC from games. PC ports of their games will 100% continue, could be day 1 or timed. The only platform that will miss out going forward is Xbox...

Update from Nikkei Asia:

Sony in talks to acquire Japan publisher behind Elden Ring

Sony Group is in talks to purchase Japanese publisher Kadokawa, Nikkei has learned, part of its strategy to acquire more intellectual property to drive future growth.

Negotiations are thought to be in the early stages.

Sony Group as of March owned about 2% of Kadokawa's shares and 14% of Kadokawa subsidiary FromSoftware, which developed hit video games like Elden Ring and Dark Souls.

Sony Group aims to gain the rights to works and content through acquisitions, reducing its dependence on new hit titles. Holding rights to songs, for example, will allow the company to earn royalties when the tracks are used in movies and TV shows or performed by other artists.

As of Tuesday, Kadokawa's market value was approximately 530 billion yen ($3.4 billion). Sony Group has a three-year, 1.8 trillion yen budget running through March 2027 for acquisitions, share buybacks and other strategic investments.

PC gamers will bend the knee whether you like it or not.
PC gamers will just wait till games port to PC one way or another. This is how it's always been. We'll complain about not being able to play day 1, but we can wait six months to a year.

Not out of spite, just inconvenience and an unwillingness to expand beyond the digital libraries locked on PC.
