Also Tencent has stake in Kadokawa and has much more money than Sony. Could they try to outbid them?
Foreign company, one thing is to invest, other thing to own.
Plus, no one says that Tencent wants to buy them, this was just prescribed by salty haters.

I see this acquisition as Sony Group getting Kadokwa not SIE getting FromSoftware tbf. I don’t think those titles will be exclusives. I mean Aniplex (owned by Sony) is releasing The Hundred Line on Switch and PC but not on PS5.

Sony Group isn't going to let aniplex own a major AAA game developer. In a purchase of Kadokawa, they'll breakdown what subsidiaries will fall under what and FromSoftware will fall under SIE.

There is zero chance that doesn't happen if this deal goes through.

So, the same people who cheered at MS buying Zenimax, proud of all the third party multi-platform franchises already available on xbox that would stop coming to Playstation, and shilled relentlessly on behalf of Microsoft buying Activision, are now crying?

If they get Kadokawa, they’ll also get From. But I agree. I think From games will probably still be multiplat.

How are you so sure? I mean is there a past example or something similar?

This is from Reuters. If they’re reporting it it’s pretty much legit.
I know it's legit, because like you said, it's from Reuters. But I'm just saying, people said acquisitions deals don't leak. But this one did.

Not only would this result in

Team Asobi
Polyphony Digital
FromSoftware

but you would add companies like Acquire. I'd love to see Acquire come in and help Sucker Punch with the Ghost franchise or use their tech for Tenchu.

Don't really care much for this acquisition.

The only funny thing to come out of this is the bots and PCMR clowns crying now that everything released by from will be Sony owned.
It wouldn't change much in short to mid term if it even happens.

But the hypocrisy is a sight to behold indeed.

When Sony restructured they took Sony Online Entertainment from Sony Pictures and assigned them to SCEA.

Aniplex/Sony Music Japan is allowed to publish games and produce mobile/handheld games, but they've never managed a AAA developer.

From soft games aren't that popular on Xbox. It's mainly PC and PlayStation. They will piss off the PC players of fromsoft if they stop bringing their games to PC. But PlayStation is all in on PC, so I doubt that happens. Sony just having their content only on consoles is a thing of the past.

Exclusivity isn't what I'm talking about, cause I don't think that's gonna happen. It's more sony ownership triggering people.

Kadokawa market cap is 2 billion.

Sony is 115 billion.

Dollar terms.

Sony isn't selling itself to buy Kadokawa so this is a BS measurement. Sony had like $44B in hand as cash and spent a lot of it to acquire many companies in different categories not just gaming to avoid inflation effect on static cash. Also that market cap isn't for total Sony as Sony as a whole isn't possible to buy, most likely only 49% or less is scattered between NY stock market and Japanese stock market.

Of course Fromsoftware will be then structured under PlayStation Japan.

Consolidation can be bad, but I don't think it's bad here, let me tell you why.

First, it means that FromSoftware will be free to make Bloodborne games without any hurdles. Second, pairing FromSoftware with technically superior Bluepoint games will make their games more technically proficient and get games out quicker. Third, it means that Kadokawa/Bluepoint can focus on making the console game perfect and leave the PC porting to Nixxes.

It means we'll likely see A LOT more Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring because FromSoftware can focus on the creative side of things without having to worry about PC ports or technical limitations.

From a negative perspective though, it'll probably mean PC gamers have to wait a year to play these games, but they'll still get more games and sooner than they would have otherwise, and they'll be better games.

Xbox gamers? 100% shit out of luck. There is no chance From continues to develop Xbox games if this goes through. Just zero chance.
