You're setting up yourself for disappointment and the meltdown will be glorious when all details on the acquisition will be clear. Your days are numbered!

I'll do a ban bet with you, that if this deal goes through FromSoftware will fall under SIE.

If they fall under SIE, you're banned. If they fall under SME, I'm banned. If they remain under Kadokawa as an independent subsidiary, it's a push.

Deal?

Long time playstation gamer here but not a fan of this decision

Im opposed to game industry consolidation

Too many key player owning too much shit

Look what happened to bethesda after xbox bought them

Studio closure like tango, people losing their jobs

I want sony to grow their first party studio organically not to purchase established studio

No because I don't believe that From will go to Sony Music.

No one said Sony was selling itself ot buy Kadokawa... Why spend your time on english speaking forums if you don't understand the language?

Why not use your brain to understand that market cap isn't real money. If you're a homeless and have no money you can make up to $150,000 or more by selling all your organs. Is that an argument worth taken serious? Using your brain burns calories and it's healthy, try it sometimes.

I'm not a fan of this. Unless a third party looks to be going tits up or it is a developer who has almost an exclusive relationship with a playform holder, I'm not delighted with consolidation. It sucked when Xbox did it and it sucks now. I'm not well versed on the manga market so I can't possibly comment on whether this has the potential to make a monopoly.

Glorious days ahead if this happens and PSN will be forced. Those MAUs will go to the moon and beyond 🚀

That's why Wolverine is already running on PC 🙃

Have to keep telling myself not to engage with, but part of me always tries to educate people like you.

What's running is a build.

Games are always built to run on PC that's not a PC game though. What makes a PC game is the ability to run smoothly on multiple PC configurations.

You can spit something into Visual Studio and compile it against several different platforms.

This is why I keep trying to tell you guys that there isn't a lot of cost in doing PC ports nor is it a distraction for the primary developer.

But you're not looking to learn anything or debate anything. You'll just put a laughing emoji up because you don't want to get into a debate and @Sircaw will say you're not trolling.

Big difference between buying the biggest 3rd party publisher on the market and buying Kadokawa/FromSoftware. FromSoftware doesn't even historically publish their own games.

And no this isn't going to create a monopoly in the manga market, in fact this wouldn't even make Sony the biggest player in that market.

Good now lock Fromsoft & make PC gamers bend the knee. You either get a PS console or no Fromsoft Souls game. PS must compete & push against PC & Steam. Make a Elden ring park & movie/anime, sell Elden Ring PS5 plated & controllers/portals. And collab w existing PS franchise Demon Souls x Elden Ring singleplayer dlc Demon Souls/Bloodborne/Elden Ring x Final Fantasy (acquire Square Enix to have JRPGS on lockdown) cross pollinate your ip in gaming. Make a Diablo like competitor (SoulsBorne) combining all souls/borne universes into 1 mega multiplayer live service game & release it across PS console, mobile & the PS PC launcher releasing permanently exclusively on PS PC launcher & build up.

Or because Herman would remain multiplat & continue to see the decline trend for PS while Steam & Nintendo continues to grow & solidify there platform/hardware & storefront by double downing on exclusive games in the case of both permanent exclusive

they won’t, with Hermen Hulst in charge all Fromsoft games are gonna be day and date on PC, so there are no real benefits to playstation when we talk about exclusives

I've called this as an obvious acquisition target, though not one without risks. It's them and CDPR are this point as really the only two major needle movers who aren't major publishers.
If Sony wanted something near GTA w great potential in singleplayer, multilayer, VR & cross media CDPR isn’t bad but it won’t be cheap where you really get 1 studio that makes games on a cycle of what 7+ years

Still think looking at Capcom, Square Enix/Dragon Quest is more important of having a wider range of ip/genres to support especially PS continue decline in Japan & lacking of JRPGS games cater to Asia in general

mibu actually believes Sony gonna lock their games to their launcher… they’ve been feeding steam for the last 4 years with tentpole releases and he thinks out of nowhere Sony is gonna pull all of their games from it. get over it…. sony is a third party publisher

Bad for long term growth & profit. Fromsoft still releasing on Steam is a 100% doa for a PS PC launcher having any form of potential

Bloober Team would be insanely cheap and could offer Silent Hill exclusivity forever, at least console wise, since exclusivity doesn’t exist for playstation anymore
