Got it!

I don't think anime people could sue seeing FROM isn't even close to being the biggest anime house over there.
Its not Fromsoft thats being purchased, its their owner, Kadokawa. Kadokawa is the number one or two player in anime. And Sony is right up there too.

Colin said he agrees with Hoeg's Law this could cost upwards of 10 billion dollars. Wasnt Kadokawa values somewhere at 2- Billion before any of this news got started? I could see 5 billion tops but paying close to 5 times the companies value doesnt seem logical?

who would say? maybe 15M?

it was 2.5B. got to 3,7B because of the report. but it has no weight to the deal because it was artificial increase post factum - letter of intent.

Id say assuming sony goes through with this theyll pay 4-5 billion dollars? I feel like anything over that and they'd be getting fleeced. Kadakwa isnt worth more than 5 billion IMO and they are only worth while for companies with very specific needs and niches IE gaming AND anime/manga holders that also are location in Japan.

Colin's an idiot to think that, but I wouldn't be surprised. He's had Hoeg on his podcast at least a couple of times, even though when he did Hoeg was clearly hawking MS talking points to favor the ABK acquisition.

One thing I know is, a lot of so-called PlayStation-centric content creators are either just PC fans, or Xbox fans doing controlled ops, or exBox fans using PlayStation as their rebound girl after a breakup but you can tell their heart still belongs to Xbox. And amazingly, a lot of PlayStation fans (mainly people who hopped in from PS4 onwards) listen to them wholeheartedly because a lot of them spend more time trash-talking about Xbox than genuinely talking about (or playing) PlayStation.

It's sad but that's the way it is, and that's where MS's astroturfing stuff over the years has gotten them some benefits. Between people like Colt, Hoeg etc. and Western gaming outlets. Spent years spinning narratives while spinning their console hardware into a graveyard.

The price would be whatever they initially offered unless someone else puts in a competing bid.

Tbh I don't really trust Colin. He has some especially braindead takes more often than you should see in someone who tries to pass themselves off as the cerebral and rational type.

Yea I watched the latest SS and man that was cringe. He essentially took Hoegs word as final. essentially saying Sony is about to pay 4x the worth, which is in absurd territory. The deal won't go over 5 billion.

Usually Colin has great takes but hes very misinformed here. Seems most people are about this acquisition. People should wake up to those who were extensively covering ABK, it wasn't because they are experts... but just fans of MS lmfao. It's that simple.

One hundred percent this is the case. Microsoft gets to control the conversation regarding PlayStation using so-called "PlayStation fans". In reality these guys are paid by Microsoft or fake fans who transitioned to subvert PlayStation. Smart tactics I will say and it is clearly working, like you said. Fans of PS since the PS4 days don't know these fake fans are leading them on with talking points that led to the downfall of Xbox. These talking points include Sony should do more multiplatform games day and date would be preferable, Sony should stop signing exclusive third party deals, PC launcher, subscription service similar to Gamepass, more GAAS and less single player triple AAA games which are SIE bread and butter, and many more. I also believe higher up in SIE or even Sony for that matter are compromised of agents working for Microsoft, not all but there are some for sure. I believe this is the case because shareholders are now asking SIE out of concern if the PC push is hurting the long term of PlayStation. Microsoft couldn't make a better product than PS, so what they do is to try and take control of it's competitor and destroy it from within. Maybe I'm crazy, but this is how I look at it.

I think Colin plays dumb on purpose sometimes. With that said, i wonder if rueters leaked this deal on purpose with intentions to derail it so Sony wont be able to seal the deal?

FROM was a simply typo I know who the parent company is and I don't really follow up much on Anime so pardon my ignorance. I do know Kadokawa is pretty much with Light Novels in the West so that's pretty much a huge get for Sony.

The biggest revenue / profit (over 50%) from the company is indeed light novel / manga publishing.
It is their main business.
Everything else is to add to the IP ecosystem... like anime, products, etc from the publishing IP... but these add very little revenue / profit to it.

Backing the dude who mentioned he was scared Sony would bankrupt themselves from M&A aint playing dumb that's just being retarted. No multi-billion dollar company M&A team would make a purchase that would jeopardize the whole unit.

As for the leak, it doesn't really matter. The LOI is written and sent, it is up to Kadokawa to make a decision, and I doubt a leak to going to change any opinions. Only thing I can tell you is both parties are 100% interested, whether they actually sign the deal? I would bet yes but idk...

Hoeg makes it sound like he is the only one who knows this stuff.

Like Sony doesn’t have their own financial advisors and accountants.

As I remember it was between $2.5B and $3B, so total acquisition cost of around $5B would make sense. Less if Kadokawa has an important debt (I have no idea if it's the case or not). Maybe a bit more due to Kadokawa's IP.

But I don't see it costing $10B-$15B at all.

Look back at the history of Nokia, when the new management sabotaged the company from within and took steps in favor of MS...
