It's looking like it's all but confirmed now. I'm assuming the top suits are looking to keep power within Japan, and Sony made a offer. FROM under SIE incoming, somehow Sony ended up with the most important RPG dev in that country right now. Gigantic get.

Reiterating my point about Sony in Japan, that is no longer a weakness within them anymore, in fact they have two of the most acclaimed in their pocket. I really hope their remaining PvP efforts are great (Marathon, Fairgames) and tbh their stable is pretty diversified.

I don't like the way they are talking about it publicly. It's like Kadokawa is trying to force Sony to pay more.

Is it bad news that it leaked?
Deal is written. If anything this is already a done deal behind closed doors and this is nothing but a whistleblower to the public. They are a pretty diverse company so maybe PR wise it's best to go ahead and send the message now that it leaked.

From is most likely going to be under Sony Music.

Seems like strategic PR to me to signal yo the other entities they can back off now, but let's hope for the best.

Ah. I'm not sure FromSoftware has any creative motivation to revisit Dark Souls/Demon's Souls. At least not so long as Miyazaki is CEO, based on what he's conveyed in interviews.

I think From wants to continue releasing new IP. Presumably, letting From work on new IP would benefit Sony, since they've expressed a desire to have more IP creation within the organization.
I wonder why he thinks that when what he did with Elden Ring was basically Dark Souls 4 with another name.

And that is not a criticism at all.

But Elden Ring is what they come building since Demon’s Souls…
They had some alternative spin-offs with different mechanics like Bloodborne or Sekiro…. but Elden Ring mechanics are Demon’s Souls / Dark Souls evolution path.

If he called Elden Ring as Dark Souls 4 everybody should say anything about because it was they expected from Dark Souls 4 🤷🏻‍♂️

My concern with this is that MS is now going to start sniffing around Japan now.
Bad news is that this is likely already happening.

Good news is that you'll still get those games on PS anyway as MS is fully multiplatform by next gen.

People keep being in denial saying FS will be with Sony instead of SIE PlayStation.

You all do know SIE already purchased 14% ownership in FS. Sony corporation buying Kadokawa will increase that percentage. They’ll be folded into PS studios.

They will probably will be eventually integrated into SIE assuming it goes through, i think initially to prevent disruption they will keep things seperate.

It doesn’t matter what MS is doing.

Japanese government is very protective to national industry… they will only allow MS to buy a Japanese company when there is no internal company wanting it.

And the government will even try to make things easy to a internal company like giving beneficies before go to external options.

So if Sony and others Japanese’s companies don’t want Kodakawa then MS can bid for it.

I been enjoying this cope. Loads of people saying that they will remain multiplatform, but in reality Xbox is likely out of the picture and FROM is PS/Steam going forward. Big shakeup.

I hope Sony is smart enough to do PC day 1 with them in particular.... Bloodborne 2 is the only game I can see being timed PS5 only without a massive shitstorm taking place. Fanboys will try and tear FROM down, as they have all the other major Sony studios in the past few years.

My concern with this is that MS is now going to start sniffing around Japan now.

Even if that happens, Microsoft is still a third-party publisher like EA. They need to publish their games on as many platforms as possible to make a profit. The damage to the industry would be minimal.

Yeah integration always takes awhile.

But on here and resetera some people are expecting this to be like Bungie or something and saying “well Sony will give them to Aniplex and Sony music and will keep them separate from SIE.”

While ignoring SIE already owns some of FS.
