I been enjoying this cope. Loads of people saying that they will remain multiplatform, but in reality Xbox is likely out of the picture and FROM is PS/Steam going forward. Big shakeup.

I hope Sony is smart enough to do PC day 1 with them in particular.... Bloodborne 2 is the only game I can see being timed PS5 only without a massive shitstorm taking place. Fanboys will try and tear FROM down, as they have all the other major Sony studios in the past few years.

The funny thing is Sony already has exclusive games with FS. Demons Souls and Bloodborne. With Sony talking positively about them recently. So it wouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary for them to continue that partnership.

The only franchise that will stay multiplatform is Elden Ring. Maybe.

Cope indeed.

My concern with this is that MS is now going to start sniffing around Japan now.
You're assuming MS will be allowed funding for another publisher. The ABK deal will take a LONG time to break even. And with their revenue going to shit, software not selling and GP not growing, daddy Phil isn't getting more money.

That's the whole reason they're becoming a 3rd party publisher. Their attempt at taking the industry over failed.

The leak is illegal and probably will make the conversation hard now.

It was probably made to influence the executives with public opinion…. the change in the shares values affect the negotiation too.

That is why these type of leaks are not allowed in any industry.
In the U.S. leaks are very rare. But in Japan, big Japanese acquisitions get leaked a lot.

Let's be honest they can get money for another acquisition whenever. Satya has taken over Xbox, he can open the purse whenever he wants. It would simply look bad if they go after another publisher so soon after and shareholders are now paying attention

"Mega acquisitions are bad!!" - Sony fans during MS ABK purchase.

"Come on Sony! Buy this mega company!!" - also Sony fans.

Sticking strictly within the realm of gaming... it's insane to compare From Software to the scale of the Acti/Blizz/King acquisition. That said, in the wake of such an acquisition going through there's no reason not to want SONY to fight back at least a bit, it's not really hypocritical, tbh even ignoring the scale difference Microsoft has turned this into a landscape where you either buy these people or they'll be bought.

"Yes! Now take all Bethesda games off playstation" - MS fans when MS bought Zenimax

"Mega acquisitions are good for competition, consumers, and employees! Please make CoD exclusive!" - MS fans during ABK buyout.

"Oh no! Sony is evil, they must not buy Kadokawa! Consolidation is bad!" - Also MS fans

Fuck off with YOUR hypocrisy. Go cry to Resetera.

Kadokawa's gaming department is about 95% smaller than ABK. Comparing the two, makes you look idiotic.

a 4 billion dollar acquisition is nothing compared to 80 billion. You are the only hypocrite here, as I'm sure you loved the ABK situation.

Money isn't the problem, it's allocating that money do a sinking division. Not only that but after the shitshow that was the ABK trial, MS is in hot water on any future acquisition. Every single thing they promised during that trial, they lied about.

This acquisition isn’t even Bethesda big when it comes to videogames.

Yep, depending on how much premium they would have to pay, we are looking at Sony spending around the same amount as MS spent for Bethesda but for both Bungie and Kadokawa.
And Kadokawa is far from being gaming related only.

Worry about what? Are you listening to the Xbox trolls on their podcast again? Who cares what Ironlord or whoever says. I doubt that Xbox will be approved in our lifetime to buy another publisher especially not after spending since 2014 more than $100B in Acquisitions. Your Worry is unnecessary. Foreign companies can't buy that easily Japanese companies. Many of them are either protected or also the Japanese rules for M&A for foreigners are pretty strict. Forget that Fanboy fantasy that Microsoft can go on a buying spree ans buy all the companies they want in Japan. Any company with a right mind won't do that. Closing down Tango was definitely an own goal and will cause the opposite effect of being a trustworthy parent company. Microsoft will never get a Japanese publisher or gaming studio.
