Rumor: FF9 Remake is cross-platform and “Not very ambitious”

Why wouldn't people complain about getting a watered down, wannabe MMO game in a series that was anything but that? So instead of getting a proper FF game after people complained, we got a worse version of it. The series went downhill with XII.

So called MMO wannabe XII is better than the crap we got after it.

FF7 Rebirth is the only 90+ reviewed FF since FFXII and even that is a remake not a new entry.

Well FFVII Remake / Rebirth / NoNamed are bot remakes.

I wouldnt mind a 13 remaster if they added some cutscenes explaining its lore which is apparently pretty good. . Heck id take the Hi res pictures that moves like the Elden Ring intro, just flesh out the story some.

You mean the same metacritic scores that put FF9 ahead of 7? You're basing your opinion on that? I'm basing mine on the fact that I played through these games and FFXII is where the series fell off. Not surprising, since it started development as an online game and then later shifted focus to single player.

That's what got us bland locations, towns, MMO-like gameplay and an overall shift for the worse. The series has been on the quality decline starting with that game and only started picking up quality wise with the remake.

Also, XIII sold better than XII. By about 4 million. I guess XIII is the better game, right? After all, the sales say so. You're throwing numbers around and they don't exactly work for you in this case.

The only Mainline FF since FF10 and Sakaguchi leaving is FF12. Rebirth is a remake and doesn’t really count.

I think 6 and 12 are the best overall. 7 is good and has plenty of charm, but the fact that the original 7 was basically a dumbed down "redux" of 6 (way too many 1:1 elements that overlap, and the general story is nearly identical) that was entirely focused on the production values, and less so the gameplay, storytelling, and characters, ranks it lower. And the fact Remake and Rebirth pooped all over the original makes me not care about those.

The whole FF XI to FF XV was a struggle for Square because they had to move from pre rendered towns and environment to HD towns in the ps 3 and 4 gen. After 15 the FF series seems to atleast have got their mojo back. Also all FF 13 games are not bad, Lightning Returns is pretty good and 13 is very popular in Japan
