Yeah, sorry Benji is more on the level with his info definitely. I just meant Lumberjack is doing his best imitation of Benji a lot of the time.

Wasn't trying to insult Benji at all.

I saw the list of 8 or so publishers he made, absolutely ludicrous... even at a fanboy level.
Interesting to note that he is predicting Starfield will be $70.

And it's not like that is going to be any easy game to sub for a month of GP for to play and complete if you have a social life.

I think MSFT know they can make a lot on Steam from it...with modders etc wanting a full copy. So 70 makes sense to own it.

I can't have those conversations because he blocked me lol

And I guess gaming analyst is the new trend on twitter to excuse when he ends up wrong.

Serrano also did that.
Yeah I've seen this guy a few time acting like an insider, but no idea if he's legit.
Oh like women who say they are models because they 😐post on Instagram 😂😂😂

BTW Serrano is an idiot!

I wouldn't call it a rumor, I'd call it a joke.

Sony approached CDP not to buy them, but to remove their game from PSN instead.

Oh Serrano... I said something cheeky to him lately too, I just can't resist. It's too fun!

I was saying separately Sony should probably go for CDPR, it would make sense and is a Bungie size acquisition but now that the Lumberjack has said this I doubt it will come true.
Benji is actually good though and doesn't make all these weird ass predictions especially acquisitions. Plus, this Rythian guy is the same guy who believes that Sony will acquire 8 publishers by 2030.
Yes, Benji does a good job posting sales or news and analyzing them saying stuff that makes sense and without mading up stuff. Benji is a good guy that posts good stuff that makes sense.

He isn't like these fake 'insider' clowns like Serrano who made up stuff out of a simple personal guess or copypaste stuff some annonymous user posted in 4chan and claim that they are leaking something. People like Serrano out of a gazillion things get one or two right, just because were some common sense as could be things like "Guerrilla is working on a new Horizon game" or "Nintendo is working on a new Mario game" or "Sony will announce a State of Play this or next month" etc.

I think we shouldn't give attention to Serrano or the guys in the OP.

It might happen. Valorization of most conpanies are down.
Especially in europe.

But CDPR is not just the studio. They also publish games in Poland, and they own GOG that is a money sink.

Would Sony want that?

I 100% feel like Sony would want GOG

Look...I don't disagree that its likely CDPR really did announce that to make their value go up in stock, I don't disagree that Sony may have been looking at them, I'm sure Sony is looking at lots of teams.

I merely doubt this person was told any of this by any source

I dont feel like Benji has ever claimed to be an insider though, so im not sure why he’s catching strays?

He pretty much just repost sales from other people.
He's fine, seems nice, and yeah he doesn't claim to be anything other than an "analyst" like half of Twitter.

Not meant as an insult just thought it was funny he's brought up in an insider convo.

If the rumors are true that they're looking to start up a launcher/storefront onn PC, I could see them wanting CDPR for something like GOG. The infrastructure is already there, IIRC there is some released content on GOG CDPR outright own (not talking about just their own games). Things on the hosting side would be set up, etc.

Take the source code, change it up a bit, refit the layout into something PS-friendly, rebrand and you have a PS storefront on PC. They would have to add trophie and profile sync support, and other little things, so maybe it would be better to just build out a launcher/storefront from scratch after all.

They also have to hire a whole separate team to build and maintain another store front. It would be far easier to integrate their system into an existing storefront with a slight redesign.

I dont imagine sony will want to continually share the fruits of their labor with steam

For Sony it's way easier and cheaper to adapt their already existing PS/web/mobile PSN store to PC.

GoG is a tiny store with a tiny market share and revenue, so no interest for a giant like Sony. To integrate PSN with GoG would require more work and time than to implement their PSN store and launcher on PC, and would be weird to have PSN games with no trophies on PC.

Sony will prever to have a coherent, crossplatform, single PSN across PS, PC and mobile with a single and integrated system for trophies, friends, messaging, etc. that is pretty much the same everywhere.

If the rumors are true that they're looking to start up a launcher/storefront onn PC
An open job position for their PC division mentioned "PC store strategy" and when talking about 3rd party stores didn't even mention GoG, which give us a clue that Sony isn't even interested on releasing their games on GoG.

They also had another job offer where they mentioned "client application experiences as PlayStation network Platform integration" and "Deep understanding of the video game industry, especially PC, Cross Play and Cloud/Mobile based gaming needs and trends", which leads to think they could be planning to implement full PSN client launcher integration with crossplay support:

How viable is this guy?
He's a random guy with zero insider credibility. I don't understand why this thread exist.

  • CDP value dropped a lot but continues being too overvalued: its value should drop to the half or so to match the value of companies with similar numbers
  • CDP has no IPs and the ones they are using are already taken for movies/tv shows by someone else
  • CDP has no experience at creating new IP
  • Shitty company culture, would need huge and difficult changes that would need time
  • Burn rate seems too high, many key talent left or was kicked out
  • CDP console releases are a disaster, to the point Sony removed CP2077 from PSN
  • GoG has a tiny market share, not enough for Sony
  • Sony has more than covered the RPG genre, open world genre, narrative games and CDP is a small portion of these niches so Sony wouldn't care if MS buys CDP and makes them full console exclusive
I don't see why would want to buy them and even less at their current price. I only see a handful reasons but don't compensate the other ones:
  • Their big games sell well
  • To have a team in Poland to acquire talent from there
  • Salaries in Poland are way lower than in USA, UK, Canada or Japan
  • To get stronger in 1st party RPG (but again, Sony doesn't need it)
  • Successful at adapting to videogames popular IPs from other mediums
