Ity seems that Sony and developer Naughty Dog may be planning something about the game, which would be to release a new version made especially for the PlayStation 5, which would obviously have improvements.

It all started after players noticed that Sony removed from its main YouTube channel a video about a patch with improvements in game performance in the PlayStation 5 version.

Around May-July 2022, it appears that the original The Last of Us: Part II trailer video with the PS5 performance patch was silently removed. Naughty Dog is possibly planning a re-release."

Would make sense since there was no update yet for a native PS5 version while games as old as Uncharted 4 and Witcher 3 have now been updated.

That seems like it's just pure speculation. Also that was awhile ago to have not yet announced it.

Maybe they just deleted the video because they cancelled the PS5 native SKU if it ever existed.

Thinking this is just maybe down to some issue with a music license or whatever, and they'll re-upload it soon.

If they did a native re-release, how would that be handled? A remake i.e TLOU Part 1 is kind of egregious, no? The games' not even three years old. A remaster maybe, but I don't see how they can charge full price for that or even $40 like Part 1 remaster on PS4.

If they're taking the PS4 assets but updating textures and maybe adding stuff like RT, or slightly extra/different content I can see them doing that for $20 new or $10 as an upgrade if you already have the PS4 version.

That makes sense.

Just like they did TLOU for PS4 they will do TLOUII for PS5.

They could do that, but how well would that go over? TLOU Remaster on PS4 made sense in part because PS4 wasn't BC with PS3 games (completely different architectures), that was the only way you'd ever play TLOU on PS4. PS5 is fully BC with PS4, they've already shown they can do patches increasing resolution & framerate.

Only way this could work and not look awkward IMO is they are adding maybe some extra content to the campaign, updating the textures and some sound effects, maybe adding RT support etc. and they release it for like $25 standalone but if you already own TLOU2 you can get it as a $10 upgrade. A $40 re-release for it on PS5 for not too much more than you could've done in a patch is gonna look weird.

A directors cut version, like DS or GoT.

If it's a pile of shit, why would you want to upgrade it?

Because I bought it and play things I spend my money on even if I don’t necessarily love it.

I’m gonna keep revisiting it until I beat it. Maybe my opinion will change but I have yet to like a Naughty Dog game.

So yea an upgrade path would be nice. Hell it should even be free if it’s not some massive step up. Otherwise, wtf is this?

Not me. I won't waste my money on BOW 2 as I thought part 1 was mediocre asf and I forced myself to finish it. I learn from my mistakes. Some games just arent for everyone and games nowadays are getting more expensive so I don't need no more paper weights or games I don't want to play taking up space on my drive.

Tlou I loved so I'll buy all sequels.

I’ve turned around on some games. Best example for me is Witcher 3. It honestly took until like hour 50 until I started to love the game. Gameplay wasn’t that great and nothing too remarkable about world design and questing but… but…. The characters grow on you. From hour 60 to 200 I was like “come at me I’m Geralt of motherfucking Rivia beeeotch!” And was more in love with Yenn than my own girl 😔

Opposite sorta true for persona 5 … at hour 90 I was like “please fucking end already!” I still love that game but near the end I was hating it heh.

Should come as no surprise. I’m waiting for that version to be released so I can play the remake and the sequel back to back.
To the haters: touch grass and grow up.

I've recently played both back to back and if a new "remastered" version releases for Part 2 I'll just do it again.
