This you brah?

Source provided. I proved I wasn't lying. Now what? You scurry away behind some other reddit-tier fart-huffing posts and lie about what we were discussing?
Yes that’s me saying the PS5 is behind. That is overall.

Not the USA only. 2 different things so don’t try to be smart.

You haven’t proven anything no matter how much you blow your trumpet.

Heck even going as far as making accusations against me and even tagging moderators.

Wow what a piece of work you are.

Wait, wait wait. I was assured by people on this forum that the PS5 sales, when launch aligned with PS4 were the same.
Those same people told us that there's no way that the PS5 would fall behind PS4 sales and suggestion such was JUST DOOMING

What happened?

Go on point out where the alarm bells are?

As you think they are.

What source? USA sales.

We are talking overall global sales.

USA doesn’t equal the world.

There is no clear definition because it's a made-up term to describe that situation.

First we said first party games, so your list by your own definition by citing and quoting a community manager from insomniac as if they have the final say here, you're still wrong.

And by your definition the Spider-Man games wouldn't be first party since Sony doesn't own the IP.

You're all over the place.

Unhinged behaviour. As to not shit up the forum anymore, I've put the reddittor on ignore. I fear for his mental health with how much he his flailing and seething. This will be my last reply OT ITT.

There was a right way to approach PC and a wrong way to approach porting PS games to PC. Sony chose the latter, now they reap what they sow.

Sony actually owns the game IP.
It doesn’t own the licensed material which the game is based.

Owning the game IP allow Sony just to remove all references to Spider-man and launch the same game with another name if they wish…

Like… humm… EA Sport FC without FIFA licensed material.

How so? I listed only 1st party titles, as in "games owned by PlayStation".

And by your definition the Spider-Man games wouldn't be first party since Sony doesn't own the IP.

The Spider-Man IP rights for videogames are currently in Sony's hands. This story, this version of Spider-Man is currently PlayStation first party.

You're all over the place.

Maybe I'm being confused by your constant goalpost-moving and flip-flopping.

They probably won't know until the gen is done with and see how many people transitioned. I think there will be some who move to pc, but they will be such a insignificant minority imo.

The bigger issue holding back the ps5 back now is the price and popular games still being on last gen.

There is this foggy memory notion, mostly from younger people, that SONY had this big exclusive strength in their PS1 and PS2 generations like they had very active first party, part of the problem is they're counting all sorts of things like GTA III as "first party" in their foggy memories, yes, Grand Theft Auto had an association with PS back then for people. The erosion of the brand happened prior to the PS3 even launching, tbh, when you couldn't name many franchises associated with SONY that were still exclusive to them. The good news was PS3 introduced actual first party franchises in the second half of its life to eventually overcome the XBOX 360.

I do think people are secretly acknowledging the importance of timed and third party exclusives, though, via this thread, like how 2024 was special for PS5 via games like Stellar Blade, FF7R and Wukong among others, for some reason this is DIFFERENT to some very dishonest people from the success of the SONY of old.

That's true at the moment. But in my opinion it would change if everything was released on day 1. If Sony were to consider this strategy, some would probably go straight for the PC instead of buying a PS6. The much more interesting question is whether their strategy will work at all.

A few months ago, Hulst claimed that they wanted to use the ports to lure players from PC to the Playstation, and the Pro is certainly part of the strategy. If the strategy doesn't work, and the games don't sell particularly well on PC, then why waste any more money on ports and risk more people switching to the PC? All games can be played illegally for free there. If Sony continues to think they can sell remakes like Until Dawn or small-scale games like Lego Horizon for such prices, many will prefer to download them to PC and then buy them cheaply on sale years later. But Sony should announce a clear strategy in the next 24 months.

Probably no one will need a PS6 at launch anyway, because Sony is putting more emphasis on cross-gen, and with the Pro I can wait and see whether I get the PS6 or a mid-range PC. Since many are pretty disappointed with the previous generation anyway, Sony and MS will have a hard time selling new hardware.

at this point i jus gave up, Puff, PlayStation is a console for casual people to play FIFA, COD and Fortnite... that's all PlayStation is...
Even that will get replace by Nintendo that have stronger & more casual/family driven ip/games + more 3rd party support & now Switch 2 is easily the casual console w low price + games exclusively on Switch 2 like the next smash, Mario Kart & Mario Party PS is nowhere near in the realm of Nintendo

If a PC port cost you 5 million dollars (which would seem pretty extreme), at 60 dollars. You only need to sell 100,000 units to recover that cost once you account for the Steam royalty cut.
The way I see it, if they're not losing gamers to PC, then the port sales are just an added stream of revenue for the company. Not to downplay the complexity of porting a game to PC; however, the marginal cost to port a game is surely a fraction of what it cost them to produce the IP (assets, marketing, etc.) Thus, they're likely hitting their margins, even with many of the "flops" frequently discussed on the forum.

Sony bought Nixxes and Bluepoint after seeing their technical merits. They bought housemarque after they made Returnal. Returnal wasn't a major hit.

People will complain about Sony buying studios that are literally start ups but they'll also complain about Sony doing minor projects to evaluate studios as well.

They'll also complain if Sony does high margin business in order to afford bigger studios.

Sony Corp has about 12.5 billion dollars in cash on hand and people think they should buy Square Enix and then foreclose Square Enix games from other platforms like that won't impact revenue needed to build that cash flow up again...

I have to constantly remind myself that these people aren't serious individuals. Buying Square Enix could cost as much as 6.6 billion USD and have absolutely no strategic value.

While that is likely their operating cash budget, if they were looking to invest it, I think they'd be better off with some stock buybacks. I know they bought back about 2.8 million shares back in September, but I think they could do more.

Second-party = first-party.

Second-party is commonly used to describe a 1st party title developed by a studio not owned. Insomniac themselves explained it in the past. A recent example would be Sackboy Adventures developed by Sumo or Helldivers 2 developed by Arrowheads.
Each to their own. The IP is first party but it's definitely not a first party made game. But not here to drag this out

We wouldn’t have had any crossplay either if the roles had been reversed. The fact that Sony caved in and allowed crossplay back then was both weak and pathetic.
Microsoft held them hostage with the Minecraft update and then Nintendo agreed to do that cross-play trailer for Minecraft which was basically twisting the knife and PlayStation had pretty much lost that public fight..

But I agree with you
