Precisely. He said you can build a very good PC for £700, then mentioned his own example. Asked to back up what he said he started going on about PC Picker and autism, all in the name of obfuscation.
Basically it's a rubbish PC that even he's embarrassed about. But hey, if it wasn't a waste of time he could run Fallout 4 at 4k
This is why I say the PC community is flustered by the PS5 Pro.
It trashes one of their favorite talking points about performance compared to consoles. And since they led in with the idea that this console is *too expensive* they know they can't push the idea that the better purchase is something significantly more expensive.
What's the result? Gimped CPUs, GPUs, missing ram, missing I/O, missing OS...
Why do they do this? The official sites do it because they can't actively encourage people to buy sketchy windows keys, and they all do it because the keyboard and mouse they'd recommend normally would probably run someone closer to 150 dollars. For parity you'd at least have to add a Dual Sense or Xbox controller, but you still need a keyboard and mouse to run the OS.
Once the PS5 Pro is out and is benchmarked, the gimped CPU and GPU argument is going to be difficult to keep up.
Missing ram was just Colt fundamentally not knowing how to build a computer.
It's not just the PC Community, it's the Xbox community trying to convince themselves and others that a pro console isn't needed and that the PS5 Pro is not good value. You even have PS5 community members and Nintendo community members joining in. Nintendo obviously because they love taking pot shots, but many in the PS5 community simply because they don't want to be seen as 2nd class citizens.
This is why I said there would be campaign against the PS5 Pro and there obviously was, but it's largely been short lived. I do think they've gotten people to hesitate though. So to some degree they've been successful and Sony I think didn't realize there was going to be such a visceral campaign against it and were unprepared.
Sony still needs to do a PlayStation showcase in early December to do some PR clean up.
