that won't happen with the Switch, they created a desirable product with a desirable catalog of games that will be backwards compatible, they found the perfect hybrid, they won't ever have another Wii U type of generation again, but have fun hoping that they do, they'll surpass PS2 in a couple of months
341M $ in revenue, not even profit, with:
- Destiny, fully multiplatform and GaaS (didn't they launch a new expansion this year?)
- Helldivers 2, day-1 PC and GaaS
- Concord, day-1 PC and GaaS
- MLB, fully multiplatform and GaaS
- Until Dawn & Horizon Remakes/Remasters, day-1 on PC
- Ports of tentpole games like H:FW, Ragnarök and GoT
- "Free cash flow" (<- LOL) of previously released ports
Seems like PlayStation survived another quarter....
GOWR hasn't even reached 40k peak of players on Steam but hey, keep em coming, Valve is grateful
investors really want to know about Concord... interesting
Yes, on PCisn't Sony saying they want to have at least one tentpole release every holiday?
The landscape are completely different. This was during the PS3 & Xbox one era? Where Xbox was at its peaks & PS3 was also reaching new status at the end. While in the PS4 era PS double down & got a new light upon the entire brand while Xbox one imploded. To be fair talks were in they would, Switch was a last shot. Nintendo built up reserves with the Switch gen so they can handle a bump now
interesting, do you have the total numbers of sales for these games on PC? cause you talk so much about them being sold over time but i don't see PlayStation titles on the best selling lists of Steam, GOW Ragnarok for example is nowhere near top 50 right nowCCU is not a measure of a games success, especially for single player games. These games are ever green and sell continuously, especially when on sale. Even at a lower revenue per unit, you're still bringing in cash flow.
Single player PC games have a different life cycle than console games, especially when they release a year or more after initial launch.
You're one of the worst posters here.. These aren't investors, they're journalists. They're asking about Concord because they see the same rumors we see.

the biggest seller for them so far is Horizon Zero Dawn and as far as i know it doesn't even have 4M copies sold on PC in 4 years. It's cyclical. When the games initially went on sale, they were higher on the list. Other games go on sale, they rise. New games get released, they fall.
Pay more attention to the sales charts if you're genuinely interested.
As for total sales, Sony doesn't generally publish updated totals after a period. You can see all their latest numbers in their supplemental, but everyone who follows single player game sales knows the product life cycle is different on Steam. Most PC players aren't buying full priced games that have been on console for a year plus. They'll wait for a sale. So your CCUs are absolutely meaningless.

This site really is all Sony FUD now. It somehow became worse than resetera. Sad to see

No gen is comparable, my comment in context is that Wii U came off the Wii and there were talks of them ending up as a 3rd party publisher if Switch failed. Nintendo has their own set of worries and issues for the future that I addressed to you in a different topic. The landscape are completely different.
To be fair talks were in they would, Switch was a last shot. Nintendo built up reserves with the Switch gen so they can handle a bump now. (which Sony is trying to obviously extract a large reserve from PS as well in the remainder of this gen at the detriment of other factors).

My full comment rather was that Sony is trying to build up reserves like Nintendo has done (wo deep price cuts over the gen). Remember PS4 compensated for PS3. They understand this is the gen to build reserves since it's their most profitable one.
Like I said earlier they met their Q2 target, 65,5 is great number to sit on. If they can get close to 75+ close to 80 over the holidays and Q4 with Monster Hunter they are in a good position with what's coming out after April in 2025. Their goal of improving operating income has been achieved. Not close to dying or being in shambles.
Good fucking shit
Good fucking shit
PlayStation is dead in Japan, Monster Hunter won't do SHITIt's crazy because Sony is just objectively killing it right now. With Monster Hunter Wild pushing units, especially in Japan it should be a strong Q4.
FY25 might have even more units forecasted than FY24 or at least similar. By the end of FY25 they could be very close to 100 million units sold.
The idea that the PS5 isn't going to outsell the PS4 is getting more and more farfetched and they know it. That's why they're already shifting focus to suggest that it'll be the PS6 that declines.
It's going to do great in Japan, but I would argue it's going to break records worldwide. Not everyone is capable of buying a top tier premium rig cause it's a disaster regarding performance on PC.It's crazy because Sony is just objectively killing it right now.
