Revised down from 21 million
On target for 18 million?

I would like to see the split of the MAU by platform

When they're forecasting improved hardware profitability does that mean they're not going to be doing major promotions for the holidays on PS5s? Or is that just counting the PS5 Pro being much more profitable than the base PS5?

Bill-bill leaked they are going to do promo of -75 for BF with Fortnite exclusive skins and Vbucks during the holidays.
So 375 for the PS5 digital which is a great price considering the Switch (Oled) goes for 330 and Series S for 350.

Only way Sony hit their sales is with a price cut. But they can't cut the PS5 price because people will buy that over the PRO. Rock and a hard place.

YMMV but the normies I work with, who are super-npc normies, all own Playstations but don't play them. Only time they do is when cod and FIFA release and that's only for a month.

So it begs the question, who is left to buy the PS5?

The normies who play COD and Fifa for a month. Always been that way. Most people don't actually use their consoles all the time like we do.

Decent Earnings.

Disappointed with Astro Bot.

All the outrage about Japan Studios and why Sony doesnt make these games.

Well now you know.

Astro Bot the almost perfect game with a Metacritic of 94 and GOTY material sold 1.5 million copies.

Imagine what the other games from the original Japan Studios sold.

I think the Astrobot sales are good. It's only been out for 2 months and it's a non-Nintendo platformer. Plus, it most likely didn't cost anywhere near as much as Sony's AAA games.

The outrage about Japan Studio was just that. You can see it with Slitterhead. You'd think these people would show up for it and support a former Japan studio head but nope.

So should Sony stop making these kind of games because they don't sell much?

Not saying Astro Bot sales are bad but it does put things into perspective.

A GOTY potential winner selling 1.5 million so far. Which is decent and that’s about it.

People really need to stop with the Japan Studios nonsense now cause these figures tell you everything about why Sony closed Japan studios.

If Astro Bot has sold 1.5 million, imagine what the other Japan studio games sold.

GR1 sold around 700-800k across Vita and PS4.

It sucks that it closed but you often hear that Japan Studios was a mess internally and that the studio heads couldn't focus on one thing, often starting and cancelling projects etc. Even Layden said he wasn't surprised by its closure.

Just look at The Last Guardian. The game was announced in 2008/2009 for the PS3 and released in 2016 for the PS4. It ended up being decent but nothing more.

Team Asobi on the other hand seem well organized and have released 2 GOTY contenders in Astrobot and Rescue Mission.

Don’t get me wrong, I still think Sony need to make more Japanese games but they should be smaller budget games by small teams.

Maybe in the future Sony will create more small team like Asobi.

But this Japan studios nonsense needs to stop. Like you said they were disorganised and couldn’t even finish a game. They were bleeding money.

I do too. Team Asobi is a great first step in rebuilding their Japanese arm.

I was a fan of Japan Studio but i can see why it closed.

So, it's ok to trash on the past and close studios, because everything needs to make big money, otherwise it's useless. Well let's hope you enjoy the next trend Sony is going to follow to make big bucks.

Well that is the point.

Not big money but profitable. Japan studios was bleeding money for over a decade and rightly closed.

Astro Bot has at least broken even or made a slight profit.
