Eh I don't like mass consolidation.

If publishers thrived under Sony, yea maybe it good, but I doubt

No publishers merger every benefit consumers, or even the publishers being acquired benefit. Square, Namco all got degraged post-merger
I understand you may not like it.

But quite often acquisitions saves (even popular) companies that were going bankrupt, as maybe was the case of Zenimax or Hoursemarque.

Bandai Namco (now the top 1 Japanese 3rd party in revenue) value since their merge in 2005:

Generally it makes them stronger and more stable, and even if takes years to see results, seems that in the long term benefits them.
