Sony reverses position & will no longer require PSN account linking for Helldivers 2. Must take the right lessons from this fiasco.

My prediction is they will take the L's with Helldivers but going forward they will enforce PSN login for their future ports.
that'll be fine as long as they don't sell in regions they don't support PSN in, or at least get a way for those regions to waive the PSN mandate

Sony has already backed off of its decision but you are still coping, keep believing that, cupcake.
FlaccidSnake is still here 🤮

wishful thinking. That's all I have to say.

"manufactured outrage" is when people stand up for the 177 countries that got Helldivers delisted from their Steam stores because of Sony's incompetence.
You don't care about these people, be honest. They were playing just fine before you intervene.

Go read a TOS, xbot.

keep making up things, they were going to get delisted before the stand anyways.

once again, I don't have an Xbox and actually support PlayStation without buying consoles.

Said so.

It's a good decision but the game's gone. Sony has a knack for getting into shitstorms that could easily be avoided by just a little bit of critical thinking, only to go back on their decision later on. Utter amateurs.

To the people calling them cowards. This could have been a major legal issue. This isn't just about not losing players or preventing the review bombing. They were open to lawsuits and could still be.

Also, this won;t change things. GoT will get the same treatment and HD is staying review bombed.

How exactly? They stopped selling the game where there was an actual problem, offered refunds for those affected, gave enough time for all the others to adapt, ANNOUNCED THE REQUIREMENT SINCE THE GAME WENT ON SALE.

Was Microsoft sued/fined for requiring an Xbox account for Minecraft years later after the game released?

in the light of the news, HD is on the rise again, I changed mine back already. Arrowhead was asking for them to continue the review bombing before Sony said they reversed the decision. GoT will be fine as long as they don't bait and switch whole countries again tbh. Most PC players already have a PSN account (where applicable lmao) I do, mine is old actually, so I was going to be fine, couldn't stand there and watch other players be denied access to a game they enjoy and paid for.

Minecraft didn't get delisted in 177 countries after the change, though. In fact, didn't it expand its regions?

Again, how is this lawsuit worthy? They (Steam and/or PlayStation) made a mistake by selling the game in those countries, stopped doing it once they noticed the mistake and offered refunds to those affected.

This time Sony back in because the dumb leadership should hsve required the linking from Day 1. Next time they won't budge in. Sony is pretty proud and arrogant company. No way they will surrender to some basement incels. Next ports will require PSN linking, at least the MP titles.

This is the problem with Japanese Leadershio, Totoki is running the company into the ground

They stopped selling after a few months of doing so. And some of you are intentionally playing dumb.

How many times does it have to be said that Sony is the only company that started enforcing this a few months AFTER the game was released? This would have been a nothing burger if it had been there from the start.

Them selling the game in regions not supported by PSN, by requiring a PSN account is a legal issues. And no, creating a PSN account from another region wouldn't fix it because, legally, you're skirting that country's consumer laws and leave yourself unprotected. No court of law would allow for that as a mitigating circumstance.

PC fanboys are really ungrateful. I never see any positive vibes from them. They are as worse as Xbox fans. All this for folks who slightly have a better buying power than Xbox. DD2 was supposedly to be a big hit, with PC huge install base. The reality is that the Multi-platform title sells only 2.5m and less than as an platform exclusive. Also fun fact DD2 runs worse on PC then PS5. PS5 saved DD2, the majority bought it there. The next CEO needs to put an end to this charade. I am telling you Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Forbidden West will bomb on PC. But I can also see PCMR will flex with 150k sales. ☠️

"DD2 was supposedly to be a big hit"

DD2 is a niche series. There are not that many fans of Dragon's Dogma's gameplay. DD1 wasn't a big hit either, but it was definitely hype from the original.

GoT is most certainly not going to bomb on PC, that is at the level of Bloodborne hype.

But that's not fair to blame Totoki only. He is doing the CEO job for month now. This all didn't happen overnight. These are decisions made over several months and years. Thank Jim Ryan, cause it's all his doing. His legacy and influences won't disappear in a couple of weeks. It will need years for PlayStation to recover their damaged brand. All the blame is on Jim Ryan and if Totoki continues it, then it's because Jimbo laid the ground work for it.

Wrong, Microsoft and surely others did it before, even when the game was NOT supposed to have a different account linked.

Them selling the game in regions not supported by PSN, by requiring a PSN account is a legal issues.

It is, if they left it that way. Instead, the game stopped being sold in those regions and refunds were granted BEFORE the enforcing even took place.
