Sony reverses position & will no longer require PSN account linking for Helldivers 2. Must take the right lessons from this fiasco.

If they aren't boycotting now they aren't going to. The4se capital G gamers are all talk no balls
very few will drop a game, where they spent 100h, just to make an account in 5min, especially when most of pubs asking the same. it isn't an issue any rational men/women.

you clearly ignore the fact that Sony pushes for extreme quality of their products, i have no doubt if there’s a company that can create a functional launcher is them, they have some of the best software/audio engineers in the world
That is not compatible with reality at all, Sony has been terrible with making a store front ever since the PS3 days, it's clearly an area that they have struggled for a long time, all the way back to when they couldn't even figure out how to implement name changes.

What they have in their favor is that they couldn't make a worse storefront than EA and MS even if they tried.

Meh if I was in charge, I would do the pettiest shit possible and remove the PSN requirement but just not push updates for the steam version of the game. The pc master race can have their no PSN login helldivers just no more gameplay updates :ROFLMAO: and the whole arrowhead community management team needs to get fired across the board

The ungrateful swine on Steam should be grovelling and pleading to pay for PS+. They've been gifted one of the best multiplayer games of the gen and this is how they respond to a standard request?

PlayStation:
Game requires PS+ monthly subscription to play.

Steam:
No subscription of any sort required.
You can refund the game and get all your money back after playing it for months.

PlayStation is for suckers, Sony doesn't give a shit and will probably end up apologizing to PC players while PlayStation players get treated like shit.

Some times I forget that I'm a PC gamer, but fuck PC gamer culture (was that too much?).

PC gamer culture is worse than all the console fanboys combined. PC gamer culture warriors would rather spend a G on a new CPU + GPU set, to only go on forums to say "Oh man, Witcher 2 at 240hz at 4K is better than sex" while stroking it to a Digital Foundry video.

I really doubt that.
Plus you won’t have Xbots making issues.

Why will Sony succeed when others failed? PS exclusives aren't the big draws some here make it to be. Epic has one of the biggest games on the planet and EGS still is a failure.

It's not like the games are selling gangbusters on steam, taking a hit of 10-20 million dollars to avoid obnoxious customers is a good deal I say. A god of war doesn't require pc peasants to be successful

Main lesson is they need their own storefront

They might make less than steam but they control their own messaging on their own store and make 100% of the profits

*I think* Sony plays nice with PC store fronts to avoid any monopoly claims. Ultimately, PC gaming at the high end is not reasonable or feasible to most. Consoles are much more accessible. If Sony ends up being dominant in both, the governments would start knocking on their door, so Sony sticks to dominating the AAA console market and uses PC as a legacy games and service games supplemental platform.

First games doesn’t sell that well in Steam.

And that “others failed” is a narrative I don’t buy… probably some failed but others found more revenue outside Steam.

I can only give a single example (because they share numbers)… Ubisoft revenue near doubled after left Steam.

Today they only put games on Steam after a period of time… all launch period is exclusive to uPlay.

IMO the low sales Sony games are having on Steam they will way better with they own Storefront

And I can't fucking wait. I've been maining PC since 2021, but my actual game time is wayyyyyyy down. I recently booted up my dust-covered PS5 again and with the DS Edge, it was glorious. The DualSense is really a technical marvel.

What I love about PC is that I get the experience that I want, Super-ultrawide? check, 240fps? check, 1440P? check. It's awesome, I can scale it all the way up or down to fit any situation.

Sony don't even make that much money from their consoles... why not allow me to build my own "PlayStation" with the hardware that I choose. The living room television is obviously Valve's next move... if Sony don't do something stat, they might find their lunch being eaten by Gaben himself before long.

There's no way you seriously believe this. It defies all logic.

Even if you take out all the labels, Steam, Sony, etc., It boils down to a game that wants to sell itself and you are saying it would have a better chance selling in any store other than the biggest one in the market. That does not make sense.

Can you name a single storefront that has succeeded on PC? (That isn't Steam).

The sooner you accept the reality of this, the sooner you can start blaming PC gamers again for a new problem. :)

I'm waiting for the 'we apologize, we have removed this requirement' tweet on Monday.

That is posted in Ubisoft financials 🤷‍♂️

So yeap I believe that Sony would be better without Steam.
Sony games sales on Steam are ridiculous bad except like 2-3 titles.
