(Speculation on if still) Bend Naughty Dog are working on a joint unannounced project for two years, according to the former Senior Gameplay Animator.

I agree with you though I would put Uncharted 4 over Uncharted 1. I still think Amy's Uncharted 4 would have been better just based off the cast we had.
Nah. Amy’s Uncharted was going to have Sam as a cliche brother revenge story. Rafe was arguably the best villain in the series, imo and that sword fight was Goated. There were flaws in Neil and Bruce’s version, but I preferred that. IMO.

The Lost Legacy director did a bang up Job, he took all the Neil padding out of the game and made such a tight experience.
I couldn't finish The Lost Legacy, got very bored by it. If by tight you mean boring, I agree.

Oh my I'm sorry to hear you never finished the 3rd best Uncharted game ever.
Well, IMO it's the worst Uncharted (console, not portable) game by far. I was genuinely happy we were getting it, but just couldn't get into it. It makes Uncharted 1 seem like a modern masterpiece, when that one is the worst of the 4 mainline games.

I actually want to see the studio move on from Uncharted but if he's leading I'd be down for it.

I know Sony tried to make a new San Diego studio after Uncharted 4 with a bunch of ex Naughty Dog devs, I guess that fell through.
He was the guy who co-directed and partially wrote Square’s Avengers game. I wonder if you know that. But the biggest Issue with that game was that it was a gaas. So we can’t pin that on him.

Uncharted is built on cliche tropes and that was part of the charm. Sam being the villain would have made sense, since he was supposedly abandoned by Drake based off the original teaser trailer. At least Rafe paying to get him outta prison was a better set up for him to be the villain and go after Drake (which was Amy's idea). Rafe was already written to be the way he is by Amy as well. Neil's creation was Nadine. And he scrapped Cutter from the game.

I like Rafe, he was basically just an incompetent rich version of Drake though lol.

I honestly really dunno what to say to this 😰. I'm gonna assume you're fave is Uncharted 4 then?

Well I won't let that stain his rep as writing a GaaS Marvel game is no easy feat since everything is tailored around it not being a tight story

I know Sony tried to make a new San Diego studio after Uncharted 4 with a bunch of ex Naughty Dog devs, I guess that fell through.
According to their former head Mumbauer in an interview with Jaffe, that San Diego studio is part of the Visual Arts studio from San Diego (Sony support team who basically does most of the cool cutscenes you see in most of the top Sony AAA games, being the ND ones some of them) team who wanted to make an Uncharted tv show using ingame assets, it didn't work and they tried to make an Uncharted 1 remake, and didn't work because they didn't have enough designers and programmers to update the gameplay, which felt outdated (they are mostly artists), so they tried to make TLOUP1 and it got greenlighted with ND supporting them.

According to Jason (may be fud) some time later Hermen got promoted, knew about the remake and didn't like it and thought they were spending a too high budget so asked to change the project to complete its development with the teams going back to their traditional role: ND as lead and Visual Arts as support team.

This appears to be old news. Bend is doing their own thing.
The timing matches with what Jason said and later the ND directors clarifyied/debunked some of Jason's fud and lies:
  • DG releases in 2019
  • Part of the Bend team wants to do DG2 next, he Bend studio manager blocks it, Bend ends pitching a new IP to Sony
  • While they did the related pitches and preproduction, the bulk of the Bend studio supports ND with TLOU Online and an Uncharted spinoff (plus making the DG post launch content, fixes and PC port)
  • Once the new Bend IP gets greenlighted in 2021, the whole studio moves to work in the new IP, which should be the only project where Bend is working since then until now
So the "Unannounced Naughty Dog project" would be the Uncharted spinoff.
And the " Unannounced Bend Studio project" would be the upcoming Bend new IP.

Should be Uncharted, Sony would be stupid to not do anything with that IP this gen.
That’s supposedly being worked on at visual arts. Might be further along than we’ve thought since it was apparently teased in the live from PlayStation commercials

Visual Arts are back to being just a support studio I think, after what happened with TLoU Part I Remake.

that was based on 2020 info from Jason’s article but 2022 rumors based on job listings says visuals arts was working with another internal team on a ND ip then we got the teaser from live in playstation commercials possibly teasing an old charted game with a female lead.

Although Days Gone wasn't a commercial failure, the initial reception from critics and gamers meant that the franchise didn't go ahead. The studio has already announced that it is working on a new IP, but in the past it has almost worked on a sequel to Days Gone or another famous Sony franchise.

In the recent leak from Insomniac Games, a document dated 2020 presented two possible projects that Bend was working on. One was Days Gone 2, while the other was a new Uncharted.

With Naughty Dog having already left Uncharted behind, it seems that the option of Bend Studio taking over the franchise has been considered internally. This wouldn't be the first time the studio has worked with the IP, having previously developed Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PS Vita.

According to the leaked spreadsheet, Uncharted would be a much bigger project than Days Gone 2, with the studio planning a much bigger budget and hiring almost triple the number of employees needed for a possible new Days Gone.

If this slide isn't fake and really is from the Insomniac leak, an Uncharted requiring more people than an open world new IP sounds to more as Uncharted 5 than -as Jason said- an Uncharted spinoff.

Chris Reese is the Bend studio head, the one who rejected to make Days Gone 2 and make a new IP instead as the next Bend project.

ND didn't left Uncharted behind, in the most recent interview with both studio heads (when they still had two) said that they were interested to continue with Uncharted and TLOU IPs plus chasing new IPs.

In recent times they released Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection, its PC port and the Uncharted movie, and Jason's report where mentioned this Uncharted mentioned ND involvement. There was also that PS5 ad where they apparently featured the daughter, maybe hinting at a game featuring her.

This document being from late 2019 or 2020 would match the timing of Jason's report regarding Bend involvement in this Uncharted game, even if he lied saying Sony blocked the Days Gone sequel, when it was Chris Reese who blocked it.

Bend have made the Uncharted Vita game so they do have the experience, I still don't get why Sony rejected DG2 when the first sold 7.5 million yet they give the Greenlight to Death Stranding
