You guys clearly have no clue what you're saying. Sony invests a lot in Square aside their games. For many decades Sony is adapting Square Enix' Gangan Comics Mangas to Anime. The majority of Square Enix video game music were recorded with Sony Music Japan labels. Sony has a lot of Hardware collaborations with Square's franchises: Blu-ray player, Soundbars, Xperia Phones,Walkman and Headsets designed with SE staff. For example the Kingdom Hearts anniversary Headsets. Or now in the present Sony is the exclusive partner for advertising their electronic products with Square Enix franchises. Sony would love to own Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest plus getting KH exclusive from Disney would be easier to negotiate. Also this 100% no fluke. If the talks started in mid of 2022, then this negotiations will take time.

They’re still feeling repurcussions of trash releases like Forspoken, Babylon’s Fall, Star Ocean and the rest of the dumpster fire flops. Thankfully they already shut down the forspoken studio.

I can't see a game getting these numbers daily with a user base that brought the last expansion being lower than 10 million.
That alone gives over $500 million in revenue per expansion.
Plus the amount of micro transaction this game do is crazy.

And it is 10 years after the game released.
