I know they have cancelled this year's Blizzcom, and I was wondering if they were going to do their own independent show somewhere or use one of these big game shows to announce it.

No. But xbox marketing doesn't allow for any other platforms to be mentioned for 48/72 hours after release. it'll be confirmed for PS in their official youtube trailer.
