I wouldn't go that far. But I think the last Mario game that could be considered a masterpiece was Galaxy/Galaxy2.

It's odd because the Forza horizon games supposedly can't be in the goat conversation as they are arcade racers, but this 2D platformer (the most basic genre in gaming) will be.

Nintendo is certainly not the only one with score inflation but they are the ones that benefit from it the most.

PD: Also why doesn't anyone point out how generic and hideous these 2D Mario games look since NSMB? They look cheap. Even 3D Mario these days has that Unreal Engine fan demo look.

Nah. Mario 3D world got a 93 Meta and Odyssey got a 97.
