I'm not following things closelly but I bet the problem is moving on from AM4.

PC parts are too boring rigth now for me to care.

The RX7700 itself is a pretty strong gpu, thi is not a bad GPU at all.

It's a low-mid tier gpu, barely able to run 1440p at high settings 60fps, anything taxing It's running 1080p. For example the 4070 Ti Super is this generation's equivalent to the gtx 970, but it cost $800 instead of $350.

That guy can't be serious. A $1200 PC calling it value. These stupid you tubers ruined everything, gaming, eating out, tourism...

I guess he also calls a $20 MC Donalds meal value.
Yup. An actual budget build will be using a bargain basement intel -100 or -400 cpu, or like a 5500/5600. That cuts about $200 off the build cost already.

But like, even making cuts you're still looking at $900 for a barebones build. It's sad.

A 7700 XT is probably going to be about as powerful as the PS5 Pro for non RT games, you have to be realistic.

This all well and good but a good PSU and cooling unit with a good 30 inch monitor with high refresh rate will set people back another 5-600$. People forget the cost of peripherals too

this build sucks, you can get a 13600k, 4070 super, 32gb ram build for around $1200
I went through the actual build and put it through pcpartpicker, it's actually around $1050 including case fans. It's still far too much for that level of build. Also for some reason he picked an 850w psu instead of a 650w which is what that build would need. That's like a PSU for a 7900 XTX.

13600k + 4070 super will run you around $1300, unless you neglect cooling since it's too hot for most cheap air coolers.

Depends where you get your parts from, Newegg and micro center sometimes have 13600k/mobo bundles on sale.

PCIe 5.0 is expensive as hell. Almost nothing takes advantage of it right now either. That's one reason why these damn motherboards cost so much more now. It's also the fact that enough enthusiasts have been willing to pay for the insane halo products no matter how much higher their price gets too, and so the manufacturers keep raising the prices to see how much they can get away with it, and they've been getting away with it every time, and of course this disease spreads all the way down the entire product stack.

DDR5 RAM however, has gotten cheap as hell compared to what DDR4 was like even in 2021.

And then of course there's the whole GPUs-being astronomically-more-expensive-than-they-used-to-be thing.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said "Moore's law is dead" within the context of being able to expect a new top tier SKU of any tech item to be way more powerful for the same price as the previous gen top tier SKU. Of course this was wishful thinking on his part, but he willed this into existence with the 40 series cards, and AMD has followed suit, somewhat.

Amazon UK lists the 13600k at 325 quid, the 4070 Super at around 700 quid depending on the brand, and RAM at 80 quid. All in all, that alone costs around 1100 and you're not even adding a PSU, storage, and case.

Even with Amazon.com prices you may not be able to hit that price point, and that's before tax.

So many cuts and fire 1200$.
If I would to play on pc Austin it would have to be with significant advantage over the ps5.
And that beans gpu alone is 1000$

yep. bare minimum I would recommend to get into PC gaming, unless you just dgaf about AAA gaming, is $1500. I would never recommend someone build a new PC with a 12gb video card, especially not one as expensive as a 4070 Super or a 4070 Ti. 7800XT minimum, or 4070 Ti Super/4080 Super (both are about $300 too expensive which sucks). CPU might as well get a 7800X3D and not upgrade for 6-8 years.

7700XT is mid-mid or mid-high, not mid-low.

Low-end GPUs are now only integrated, mid-low are the 7600 / 7600XT.

Price/performance ratios on the PC are still terrible though, as we're still suffering from the crypto-craze.
I can only guess all those highe-end Ampere GPUs went to the garbage for overuse, though. I had hoped GPU prices would have become super low from all the miners selling their massive stocks.

ehhhhhh 7700xt is basically the same performance as a 6800 nonXT which was upper midrange 3 years ago. it's also less than half a 4090, and no DLSS. That's low tier or low-mid to me at best.

Exactly. If I am to pc game over console game, let it be not comparable but much better...
In the end - with pc gaming, you need to visit pcgamingwiki with every game and do a little bit of legwork. that + high price.
So to do all of that for same result as console is nonsense.
Like ghost of tsushima now? Like.... yeah it's the same game.

Cyberpunk with RT ? Now that's a worthy difference
