What happen to Sony smartphones business?
Sony plays a minimal role in the smartphone market today. While Samsung, Huawei, and Google offer powerful devices at competitive prices, Sony often relies on a premium pricing strategy that deters many potential customers. Hiroki is now attempting to apply the same strategy in the Playstation division, as seen with the PS5 Pro.

I'm posting this on a Sony bravia smartphone. I got this because my country banned Huawei for some reason, even though you can still buy their phones. But whatever.

It's a solid little device but there's a lot phoned in. The music app which comes on the device is a Google app, not Sony music, which...dumb.
It doesn't come with the playstation app as default and other dumb little things that show it was built with a Sony name slapped on, not built with Sony in mind.

Before this one, I had a Sony phone in 2011/12/13 something like that, and it was the first to be able to film in 3d. It looked incredible.
Sony phones have fallen by the wayside imo

Just my two pence.

Oh yeah that’s a bad strategy the talk surrounding PS6 being $600 is bad the focus on power is bad. PS needs to focus on accessibility & portability. PS6 should be the same power as PS5 with the PSSR 2.0 at $400 with it being a hybrid handheld like the Nintendo Switch. PS needs to focus on actually releasing games at minimum they need to release a 5 games w a mixture of AAA & AA but nothing has told me that PS & PS studios are structure in a way. Because Nintendo output is outpacing PS4 & PS5 rn & there going to double down.

@Gods&Monsters

Bruh Lego Horizon has only 109 reviews on PS5 💀 that’s worse then concord wtf this game really came & went w no hype. Herman doing his best killing PS, PS studios & his own beloved ip by just forcing Horizon while ignoring other notable & beloved franchises like inFAMOUS, KILLZONE, Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper & Ape Escape.

Where did Lego Horizon charted on Steam, PS & Nintendo storefront. How do you fuck up a Lego Horizon game 2 major franchise. They couldn’t even have Lego sets ready so people could pick up new sets & the game & building a great Lego Horizon experience truly something special could’ve been curated but Herman short sighted vision though making it multiplat would make this game huge & brought more sells when it looks like the opposite happen PS, PC & Nintendo players don’t care about a day n date multiplat PS games. There’s no desire, no prestige, no aura, no PS magic 😔

Oh & for a multiplat game to skip PS4 PS own platform which would’ve brought more sales which is the point of being multiplat lmao what a dumbass

The game could easily run on PS4, iOS, and Android and make bigger sales.

Can we dance on Lego borizon's grave or is it still too early. Its 35th on the us store, and please stop with the BS that it will sell better on switch. If 1st party games sell better on switch then sony might as well shut up shop and just publish games

Wasn’t that near the same position as Concord? 🤭 for 2 major franchise Lego & Horizok that’s a huge bomb

Not sure what Herman was thinking he knew they had a Lego game yet they didn’t green lighted Lego sets to go with the Lego game which would’ve sold to both Lego & Horizons fan having great synergy & just more hype & promo. How many duds & miss calls is Herman gonna have before they boot him. He wasted almost 1 billion if not more w these duds, cancel game, acquisition etc not to mention how they have continued to ignore the PSVR2 a PS platform that can bring more hype, promo & sales if PS tied it with there games releases similar to what Capcom did w RE4

When Sony doing day one PC games I just know the quality isn't there. You can tell these releases are not for us PS gamers.
Concord, Until Dawn Remake, Lego Horizon. Helldivers 2 was almost broken on ps5 with shitty optimization tons of bugs and cross-play ruining online.
It's already a trend. Instead of polishing the game for PS5 they are wasting time on PC ports.
I will treat these games just like I treat almost all Ubisoft games - pretend they don't exist.

We're all doing the same. Nobody is buying these megaflops on any platform. They were made with PC in mind and I'm not buying anything that is on PC Day 1. Let them sink, they are tainted.

Astrobot and Helldivers were the exception.

Have to step in here and say Concord was actually an almost extremely polished game on PS5 at launch and PC was an after thought for them. Even the beta had almost zero problems. They even went as far as turning off cross-play for PS5 owners by default after the first beta 🤔

But otherwise I agree.

This deserves its own thread.

I knew PC ports would come up in again in the shareholder meeting.

And just like last time, they don’t have a real answer on its affect on PS5 sales.

It seems like they're seeing a good conversion rate of PS4 to PS5 users, and that they don't observe a risk of losing players to PC at this time.
"We have neither confirmed such a trend is underway, nor do we see see it as a major risk, so far". An interesting choice of weasel words.

They did not state "we can confirm that there is no such trend" and carefully say that it (referring to the trend that they did not confirm or deny) isn't a risk so far.

If this bold strategy of discarding product differentiation in exchange for small short term bumps of profit ever backfires, they covered their asses legally.

Yep, if someone told me it was an answer Philocchio gave, I would've believed it.

That’s not a answer. They gave a deflective PR response.

I hope these questions directly from shareholders will give them pause on porting some games and keep the releases to 2 to 3 years. As soon as Jim Ryan left Herman Lying Hulst wasted no time reducing it to 1 year.
