Just checking the comments.. and there's a bunch of people butthurt that the game doesn't have a PS5 Pro patch.

I thought all games releasing after October needed to have the Pro patch. Turns out there new games releasing without it.
Don't care about this game, But the fact it doesn't have the pro patch post October is troubling the precedent for 3rd parties if Sony themselves aren't supporting their system.

WTF is going on brah!

Isn't this a series X/series S situation?

Devs have to make special versions for different console of the same generation?

Yep. Which has already existed on PC for a long ass time.

Don't know why people are losing their shit over Lego Horizon Adventures not having a Pro update. It's fucking blocks. What exactly are they going to enhance? And would it even be worth it, probably not.

Pc is different because it doesn't need patches or recoding. A version needs to be made to work on X and PS5 and then series S and Pro respectively

they can’t stop promoting the Steam Deck nonstop, i’m seeing them promoting the Steam Deck more than they promote PlayStation’s own hardware

My man, when are you going to understand that the era of locking software to a specific box permanently is over? Microsoft has embraced it. Sony is slowly embracing it. Nintendo will one day need to embrace it.

It didn't work out to well for Xbox...

But they had the cash to buy the biggest publisher in the world so they could remain relevant as a publisher.

PlayStation and Sony are in a totally different situation and if they think deprioritization of their hardware will lead to better things, they are more than sorely mistaken.

How was going to go well when they don't have games in demand? Idk why people act like their PC ports killed Xbox. Xbox first party was deep in the gutter even before the porting. We're 8 years post ports and their lineup never got better plus it now consists of historically multiplat games.

Sony isn't remotely close to being in the same position. Look at how rabid PC fans are over Bloodborne, look how much of a big deal SIE games on PC has become. That's what happens when demand is there. MS never had that, ever.

It's more so that sony thinks there is no more competition, thus not using other platforms are missed opportunities.

If competition emerges again will probably see another sony again.

Xbox is literally the biggest and best it's ever been. The third party support is the best that it's ever been including Xbox 360. It going to become more and more about the platform and eco-system what they offer you as opposed to just the box which all have an expiration date and eventually be obsolete.

Xbox will remain relevant as a platform with hardware (console and handheld) while also going where others are which makes more sense than trying to force people to come to you which isn't going to happen. This applies to Sony as well but to a lesser extent because like him or not, Phil was right when said that losing the PS4/XBO generation was the worst generation to lose because it's where everyone picked their platform of choice and started building out their digital collections/libraries and will simply stay on that platform regardless of what the other does and even more so if they're an online live service multi-player gamer because they're not going to leave the platform where their friends are also playing.

Did you ever think that Sony would allow MLB to go to other platforms when their own internal studio develops the game every year, that Bungie would remain multi-platform after Sony acquired them, that Lego Horizon Adventures was agreed upon by Sony to allow to go to Switch and of course, did you ever think that Sony would start embracing PC with releasing games day one and speeding up their porting process in order to get their games day one on PC sooner rather than later? My guess is that you (and many others) believed that they would never ever do any of this yet here we are.

Their hardware makes more revenue because it costs more but their growth is literally stagnated and is nothing more than retaining what they had with PS4 which again, was the best generation for Sony to win and the worst generation for Microsoft (especially when they're more digital focused than any other company) to lose.

As a hypothetical, if exclusivity was dead on PlayStation, like every game from every publisher was everywhere, what would keep you on PlayStation? Granted, you could go to PC but at the cost of spending $3000+ on a really good PC rig which will probably be closer to $5000 by the time PlayStation 6 releases in Fall 2028. I would assume that you would still be buying and playing Sony's games as well as other games that you would normally buy and play so outside of spending extra money which only hurts you, what would be the benefit of you leaving the PlayStation platform and eco-system?

I really don't see or understand how leaving the platform and eco-system that you like and prefer benefits you just because Sony is adapting and evolving which every company eventually does. You're still going to get the games that you want from Sony. Only difference is that others not in the PlayStation platform and eco-system will get to play them as well.

For me, I gave up the console war and exclusivity bullshit because it is over and honestly, doesn't matter. The biggest games on Xbox and PlayStation month in and month out are the multi-platform live service games that aren't going to lose and even the few single player games like a Hogwarts Legacy or Elden Ring are few are far between when you consider the hundreds of games that get released on a yearly basis. I prefer Xbox. I want subscriptions and they give me Game Pass while Ubisoft gives me Ubisoft+ on Xbox, nether of which I can get on PlayStation. I get free cloud saves, better backwards compatibility, free upgrades, auto HDR, FPS boost, an actual six game a year refund policy, ability to use my Xbox One controller which is my favorite and best of all time and more. Hell, they also allow you to buy one copy of the game and play it on PC via the Windows Store as well as Xbox consoles. Granted, Windows Store sucks and will never be anywhere near the level of Valve with Steam but it's nice knowing that you don't have to buy the game twice if you're in their eco-system. Or now, cloud streaming which Sony is also doing.

Exclusivity is slowing dying out just like physical games yet people who can't accept this want to hold on to all of this shit when in reality, it literally changes nothing for them. Microsoft porting their games and it can be every single game which it probably will be eventually to Sony/Nintendo changes nothing for me. I'm still playing their games on Xbox via Game Pass day one. I'm not waiting months/years nor am I going to pay $70 for any Microsoft game (or third party games that are day one on Game Pass that I want to play or Ubisoft's games anymore) if im not required to do so.

But to each their own. I simply decided to stop giving a fuck about all of this shit because the console war is fucking over and has been over for probably a decade at this point and in doing so, I have enjoyed gaming and playing games more now in the last 6+ months than I did before because now, all I care about are the games that I want to play, that I can play them on my Xbox Series X and that I hopefully enjoy them. Everything else, I simply stopped giving two shits about. :)

I agree with a lot of what you say expect one core thing. Exclusives have not died out, they died out for Microsoft. People like to calim Sony is in the same boat but where else can you play Spider Man 2, GoW, Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, Helldivers 2, Astro Bot, Returnal, Ratchet, FFVIIR, FFXVI all day one?

It's conveniently ignored because most end up timed, but nonetheless still exclusive in some way shape or form. If the things Xbox says about "exclusives are dead" you wouldn't see Nintendo or Sony still doing them. They are trying to make their failure seem like an industry problem, which is clearly working because just a couple years ago exclusives were the name of the game in spaces like this, now people are acting repulsed by them as if they haven't always been a thing in ALL types of media. MS PR on a goated run tbh

People like to calim Sony is in the same boat but where else can you play Spider Man 2, GoW, Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, Helldivers 2, Astro Bot, Returnal, Ratchet, FFVIIR, FFXVI all day one?

I mean died out in the sense that after the month of release and maybe the second month, people move on and barring a cheap sale where you see the game enter the top 10/20, they simply disappear. The most played games on Xbox/PlayStation are the third party games. If third party games died tomorrow for both platforms, both platforms would die out sooner rather than later because when you're talking exclusives, you're taking on average maybe two games a year for Sony and while Microsoft would survive longer because they have more studios and obviously games, they would die out as well because the main games that people play daily would no longer be available on the platform(s).

For the list that you post, Spider Man and GOW are the two big ones. No one gives a shit about Stellar Blade, Ronin, Astro, Returnal and Ratchet to where they're going to spend $500+ on a console just to play them. Helldivers 2 is like 90% or some shit like that PC oriented. Whatever fans/sales Sony got on PlayStation 5 happened at launch. Outside of a sale (like I mentioned above), few will care. Excluding Spidey and GOW, Final Fantasy is a bigger franchise/IP than all of them but at the same time, most people have simply moved on which is seen by Square Enix never reaching the sales that they want and the more they go "exclusive", the more they're literally killing the IP, the growth of the IP and the future potential of cashing in on growing it.

Also, those who want to play the majority of those games like me are already going to buy a PlayStation 5 which means Sony already has me as opposed to gaining me. They're not gaining anything. They're just retaining me from last gen and lesser so since I play mostly on Xbox. The casuals and casual games that the casuals play can be played pretty much everywhere which is why they're the biggest and most successful games. Do you think Minecraft or Fortnite would be massive if they were on just one platform? They would both be dead already.

Lastly, the day one aspect is getting shorter and shorter and will eventually be day one on PC because it's a massive user install base that aren't going to buy a console to begin with and if they were, they would have done it already so missing out on all of those potential sales not just for the currently released games but more so, for all future games simply makes less and less business sense with every passing year especially when Sony spends a shit ton of money on the games themselves and has to pay a lot of money for the licenses.

Microsoft is always ahead of everyone else, granted at times way too early but if you go back to the original Xbox, everything Microsoft has done, Sony has copied within 5 or so years. The only aspects that Sony truly had first was streaming and subscription but did absolutely nothing with them and wasting a decade as well as the money spent on Gaikai and others while accomplishing nothing of importance or substance. Instead of building upon it and grow it, Sony decided to just leave it there as is until recently.

Sony still does exclusives but notice how they're becoming less and less? Notice how they're porting their games to PC faster and faster? Notice how when they now make a deal for a game like say Stellar Blade or deal with Kojima, it doesn't last forever like it used to. Sony acquired Bungie and agreed to keep them multi-platform. That's not changing. If they acquire Kadokawa, they will keep them multi-platform as well because if they don't they're going to lose a lot of money and while Anime may be big or whatever, they're not going to spend more than what they paid for Bungie and not get back a all that investment as soon as possible.

Exclusives have always been a thing in gaming but it's soon to be 2025 and gaming is more expensive than ever and companies with their highly inflated budgets due to people wanting the best graphics and tech isn't cheap and as they all go to next generation, games will be even more expensive so tying games down to one platform for a small return isn't going to get the job done.

Nintendo is the only hardware manufacturer of the three that can afford to stay as is for probably another 20 years if not longer because first and foremost, their IP's are the biggest of the three, sell tens of millions of copies including remasters all at full price or close to it years later since Nintendo rarely puts their games on sale and when they do, it's like a cheap $10 discount if that. Nintendo also doesn't have the tech as they're behind by at least a generation if not two which leads to their games being far cheaper to develop and release. They don't do realistic visuals at least not from what I remember off my the top of my head and while their revenue is the lowest of the three, their profit margin is the highest because they don't spend the money.

This is where Microsoft and Sony will basically be exactly the same especially when they basically already are as they spend way more money (especially Sony) than Nintendo does and at some point, it becomes more about making your business more profitable and when their top tier games sell 20m copies life time or take a decade to go past that or need deep discounted sales to pad the number, they're going to have to make decisions. They've already started. Once a company goes down a path, they're not going to change on a dime or something. They're going to stay on that path because while short term, it may hurt them, long term, they'll gain a hell of a lot more.

Microsoft going more multi-platform than they already were is the better business decision because the division will bring in more revenue and more profit. King alone now makes Microsoft a shit ton every year. It's insane. Plus, when gaming goes all digital, that 70% cut that they get on PlayStation or Nintendo (or Steam/Epic) just adds more revenue and more profit. People believe that this hurts them but in reality, it doesn't because those people aren't going into your Xbox eco-system and platform but they will if those games are where they want to play them such as a PlayStation or Switch.

At the end of the day, all the companies (excluding Nintendo) spend way too much money to begin with and want a bigger return than ever before and long term, growing the IP's and software is what ultimately matters because if you don't grow them, no one is going to care what you have exclusive because majority will just look at the IP's as not being worth anything due to the fact that they're smaller than others.

We'll have to wait and see but just like Microsoft has been accurate and correct since the original Xbox and just like everyone shit on them back in 2013 yet is how the vast majority of people now play games, they're eventually going to be accurate and correct again. It's just a matter of time. For Sony, I see that time being within the next decade because they'll eventually realize that first, their fan base who love PlayStation aren't going anywhere anyway especially not if it means spending thousands more and for what? Spite? LOL. That only hurts those who do that. And second, they want to grow their platform and eco-system and they will do that by growing their IP's which will happen when they become more multi-platform.

It’s so great seeing the PS studios name, PS brand & PS ip be diminish to such a degree. There’s 0 hype for PS games on Steam. Sales going down, PSN account going down & PS own platform/hardware & storefront diminished greater then the PC positives.

If the Horizon Monster Hunter flops that’s it for the Horizok franchise & that’s it for Guerilla. Guerilla been wasting time between remakes & remasters & these multiplat that Horizon 3 is like 5+ years away & even other project like a new Killzone or new ip are also 5+ years away.

These numbers are embarrassing not even indies do these type of numbers. Only like bargain bin 3rd party games w no name ip/studios perform like this. What’s the next flop Days Gone remake, GOW trilogy remake & Uncharted ND remake all of these are likely day n date. There’s 0 exclusive games for PS & these PS studio first party are wasting time & flops

These type of moves will diminish if not kill a PS handheld. Trying sell a console/handheld when your games are on PC & Valves own console handheld & in some cases day n date + also on Nintendo & sometimes day n date.

PC/Steam will always benefit by being a unique competitor w benefits of PC. Steamdeck having no online subscription + cheaper games + cheaper PS games due to sales + more exclusive by default then exclusive games PS gets from 3rd party & 1st party releases combine.

And yeah it insane that they promote a competitors console & storefront then there own that’s lacking behind PS4 even w there other competitors Xbox hardware & storefront imploding & PS consoles are lacking massively behind Nintendo Switch which compete directly with PS whether PS acknowledges it or not PC, Steam & Nintendo aren’t friendly & direct competitors I’d say bigger threat then Xbox
