That rule was added on middle November because somebody leaked that a DLC could be nominated.
I don't make the rules but I'm pretty sure moderation would side with me because I have clearly proven my side of the argument. I have seen before the moderation tell people like you that you can either prove your side or let it drop and since you don't have proof you're going to have to let it drop

It literally says games released in previous years are eligible in all award categories so long as the jury feels their inclusion is merited due to new content improvements or service updates. Do you know what all award categories means? This is called a self own. Your argument is dead.

Plus they talk about the GAME not the DLC.
Using your logic Elden Ring should be nominated as GOTY this year not it DLC alone because that is what the pic is saying

They literally put cyberpunk in the ongoing game category last year it does not only mean live service titles.
That was a wrong choice like I explained... generated backslash too.
They give Phantom Liberty that award because they could not put it in GOTY category.
With the new rules Phantom Liberty should not even be nominated in a wrong category.
We discussed that last year a lot... and it just more proof that the rule didn't exists before 2024.
That is all because they don't want to create a "Best DLC" award.

Phantom Liberty was not a live service ongoing game... it was a DLC for a single player game that has nothing of ongoing or live service at all.

TOTK slander is insane. It is leagues and bounds better and more expansive than Erdtree as a standalone. no one who has played and enjoyed both would ever come to this conclusion.
This take is 100% in bad faith. People cannot act normal when a game is a iterative sequel anymore.... I assume those guys started gaming in PS4 gen. Sequels used to be the old game + more but nowadays people have some weird expectation everything must be a revolution.
Not just that TotK is a complete shift in game engine... everything they had on original had to be ported to the new engine to be used... so the use of "reused" is very weird here.
SotW was build not just over the engine but the whole Elden Ring game... so it uses everything Eden Ring had.
I played both extensively and agree with the meme. TotK is overrated busywork simulator for undiscerning children.
