The Game Awards: Expansions, DLC, Remakes, Remasters All Eligible for All Categories

Remakes are fine but DLC is really pushing it. Certain categories, yes. But not GOTY.

I wouldnt give DLC game of the yea, as great as the game is. I wouldnt give stuff like Destiny DLC or FF14 DLC the main game awards either

TotK was a DLC anyways. Shadow of the Erdtree has more new content than that shit did.

Follow up story and many many new mechanics added to TOTK. Its not dlc.

Sequels just have to be follow on or new stories. Theres no pact that sequels have to be completely different or be very different. Especially if they were successful before

Plenty of expansions add and continue or create new stories. Plenty of expansions have way bigger sweeping evolutions to gameplay, which Totk had not much of unless you consider a trash loot system like fuse.

Nintendo gets away with lack of criticism because it’s Nintendo and can literally sell their consumers cardboard.

There is nothing done in Totk that couldn’t have been an expansion but the reality is the switch isn’t the tech for it.

Does anyone even watch it anymore because of the awards? Last year they skipped one of the most successful titles. I'm excited to see what happens this year. My personal GOTY, Stellar Blade, should at least be nominated in the Soundtrack and Action Game categories. But I wouldn't be surprised if it gets completely ignored, for well-known reasons.

I don’t watch it because the fillers, ads, and bullshit talk.
Several years already.
It was painful to watch even drinking a lot of beer.

@rofif In some ways it's worse than the base game and in some better. Overall it's a great experience but FF7 rebirth and AstroBot are better than Erdtree imo. I think this elevates AstroBot even further if it beats out the likes of FF7, Metaphor and now Elden Ring.

DLCs have no business being in GOTY nomination. This clearly has Elden Ring: Erdtree written all over it because there isn't enough other expansions released this year to have its own catergorie.
