The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom scores its fourth straight No.1 in the UK boxed charts.

In boxed sales alone, it is now the third best-selling Zelda game in UK charts history, and has now overtaken the N64 release of Ocarina of Time from 1998. It sits behind 2017's Breath of the Wild and 2006's Twilight Princess.

Globally, Nintendo announced 10 million sales in one weekend, which means we know it's already the second best-selling Zelda game of all time behind its predecessor, Breath of the Wild. Nintendo's data includes digital.

It comfortably holds off competition from Street Fight 6, which debuts at No.2 in the UK charts. It's not a strong physical showing for the Capcom game, certainly when compared to the popularity of its Resident Evil games at boxed retail. However, the vast majority of its sales will come via digital channels, and so its boxed performance won't tell us a great deal on how the game has truly done.

79% of its boxed sales were on PS5, 13% on Xbox and 8% on PS4. When digital comes in, expect Xbox's share to be a little better.

Here is the GfK UK Boxed Top Ten for the week ending June 3, 2023:

Good games tend to be on top for a while, exclusive or not.
Yes. And being multiplat does not guarantee nor equals either success nor better quality.

There is a reason multiplat devs say first party studios are privileged. That never factors in to the "arguments" for some "odd" reason....

Agenda's...like assholes.

Hopefully he provides those digital numbers, if your gonna say that every release put your money where you mouth is.

He did release overall percentages splits for RE4(physical+digital) but then didn't for other releases after.

RE4 numbers showed even if we take market share into consideration, PlayStation overall sales for RE4 was actually even better then xbox with digital sales, digital share wasn't really saving xbox.

Sales of xbox games are tanking, stop hiding the numbers "journalists"

With digital included it might go up to 20-30% and that's after YEARS of crying because SF5 was not on Xbox.

They had their chance to prove Xbox is a big market and they blew it. At this rate, every publisher can ignore that platform and it wouldn't make a huge difference in their financials. Port it to Nintendo down the line instead.

Xbox got n64’d. Third parties will flee but not due to cheaper disc prices and memory restrictions… but for actual game sales. Gamespass killed sales for everything not on the service.

Very impressive to see Street Fighter in top 2, with only a superseller like Zelda above.

In any case, we have to remember that these are only boxed sales, meaning that the around 70% of the total sales that represent the digital game sales are not included.

Good games tend to be on top for a while, exclusive or not.
Specially when there isn't competition with big titles of that genre in that platform

That extra 2% gain will make all of the difference.

They seemingly forgot that when it comes to UK digital sales, PS is almost 2:1 over Xbox. I think it was GDK/GFK (forgot how it's spelled) who had the report.

If anything with digital included the favor might lean even more in PS's direction.

Doesn't matter in this case for the UK; we already have the data showing PS outsells Xbox almost 2:1 in digital sales, too.

It won't; digital UK sales are almost 2:1 in PlayStation's favor. There is nothing which stands out market-wise which would lead me to suspect SF6 is heavily digital on Xbox yet not digitally heavy on PS5.

In any case we'll have an indication when Capcom posts their next fiscal quarterly report.

And I do also think a Switch 2 version of SF6 is inevitable.
