Jim Ryan greatest victory during his messy Presidency. He almost took down Xbox as without that deal going through we'd probably be getting news of hardware discontinuation. But instead he forced them to go full 3rd party which pretty much is death by a thousand cuts instead.

Satya is Ryans biggest fan. Without Jim almost blocking the deal, Nutella would have to wait a few more years before going third party.

Satya has always hated Xbox gaming lol. But it was so insignificant to the company he allowed them to exist though he kept cutting budgets over the years. After Phil and Co. Dragged him and the entire company into a political war and got their dirty business practices exposed, he had to bring down the gammer. Plus shareholders took notice of that 78 billion dollar acquisition bill.

Nadella also mentioned that sales on PlayStation and Steam are up 60% over last year. A positive sign for the series' health, but without sales numbers to compare, I wonder if this speaks more to how much of a stinker last year's Modern Warfare 3 was.

Can someone explain this?
@ethomaz

(Btw back in 2012 or something you followed and tracked Gran Turismo sales right?)

I don’t think it was hate…
He just didn’t like to have his bonus tied to Xbox success lol

I mean he wanted to kill the brand half way through the Xbox One generation lol. But that's probably it as well.

The article talks about players not sales since it includes Gamepass…. after you have 30 million users on Gamepass that could have tried the game once this week making it the biggest players count ever to CoD.

It was GTS players that where public via GT api… I just compiled the data together.

That's all she wrote. With numbers like that, Xbox is really dead.

Remember the rumor that MS will be watching this COD closely and see how it performs? Not only did it drop in sales compared to the previous one, which was already down compared to the one before, it killed any Xbox sales that it had.

Expect MASSIVE changes to Xbox. Day one 1st party on PS wouldn't surprise me, including removing COD from GP.

I don't think they'll remove COD from it but you can kiss day 1 on Gamepass goodbye for future releases.

Can somebody tell this guy that 60% increase in PS+PC includes Gamepass PC.

I have no ideia how people can make these weird comparisons.

I always appreciated your posts. It was a time internet was unbelievably hostile for anything playstation.

But that statement says sales, not accounts.

Yeap that is weird indeed.

Can it be down in UK and up everywhere else to cover UK and reach 60%? Not impossible but not easy too because UK is 3rd or 4th biggest country for CoD.

Edit - I found the source for the Nadella words.

And, as we look ahead, our IP across our studios has never been stronger.

Last week’s launch of Black Ops 6 was the biggest Call of Duty release ever, setting a record for day one players, as well as Game Pass subscriber adds on launch day. And unit sales on PlayStation and Steam were also up over 60% year-over-year.

Corrected numbers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Total Sales : 450.000 units

PS5: 315.000 units (70%)
PC: 72.000 units (16%)
Xbox: 45.000 units (10%)
PS4: 18.000 units (4%)

That changes a bit...

PS BO6: 333k
PS MW3: 305k

That means 9% up YoY.

@akira__ with the corrected numbers the situation is:

BO6 PS + PC: 405k
MW3 PS + PC: 393k

It is 3% up this year in UK... maybe being up everywhere can bring it to 60% up.

That is absolutely stunning. PlayStation keeping COD alive, but the franchise seems to be in terminal decline. Buying it was like catching a falling knife.

Microsoft being a third party publisher to keep their business afloat Activision is practically saving them Sony don't even have to do all the marketing Microsoft doing most of it for them writing is on the wall their be pushing more forward with project latitude they were even using PC gamepass to try to boost their pathetic numbers on Xbox
