So I played for about an hour and I love it

I disabled all the post processing effects besides Bloom and color grading and it looks incredible. The game is a mix between Hollow Knight, Dead Cells and Okami.

Is it normal that I was more hype about this than Helldivers before release

If there's something this game doesn't look is incredible. It's great fun, but It looks like a PS4 game, and that's ok.

How can you judge if a 2D game looks like a PS4 game or not? There's plenty of Metroidvanias, even on Switch. Nothing else changes besides the resolution and fps.

I was commenting on the artstyle anyway. Every screen looks like a painting. It's almost overwhelming

That's the artist that inspired the game. He's swedish.
