Maybe there is, but sometimes there isn't a bigger story and it's really mundane.
it is really subjective. i personally don't agree with some story plots or characters.
but they wanted to tell a story and had to be done how it had to be done. that's why some games getting 10/10, some 9/10 or 7/10, it is the extra mile which devs take makes the different.
Forgot to add that one of the available "weapons" to distract enemies should be a strap-on dildo.
Gameplay was smooth, sure, but I just felt the story and the length of the game was really tedious and stretched out. Also I get it's a climbing game, but there were sections in the game where I actually thought to myself, ffs, I have to climb that all ffs.
The second game had it all: pacing and action scenes; it was magnificent to play.
I've recently replayed it and I can appreciate it more now considering it's exactly the kinda announcement and games we are missing on PS5. But it could definitely be released today and still outclass everyone else.
I tend to switch between 2 and 4. I'd fucking love a like for like remake of 2 with 4's gameplay, it would be amazing.

I agree with all your complaints for sure. I'm not a personal fan of the story especially with the attempted retcon of Uncharted 3 pretending it doesn't exist, so they could redo a younger Drake / Sam story. The sidelining of characters for Sam in the supposed final game. The tedious and boring so called exploration moments as well.
Needed more action set pieces, I thought the final fight with rafe was as disappointing as Uncharted 2 boss fight lol.
And my personal qualm about removing supernatural elements, I thought the pirate ship graveyard was the perfect set up to finally do it right
100%, just imagine that game looking on par with the new Tlou2, with animations like that, holy shit, that would be incredible.

Don't be oblivious. The core of the game is the same as on the 7th gen, even if it had refinements in animation and some combat mechanics.
It's still a cover shooter with the obvious combat arenas and chest high walls between sections of walking&talking and auto platforming/simple puzzles.
That's like saying gears 5 is an entirely different game due to some semi open world on it. Still the same shit as in 2006 but refined.
Can you imagine anyone actually doubting Naughty Dog?

, I'd love to replay Uncharted 2 with Uncharted 4 gameplay mechanics, but they'd definitely have to expand the gameplay environments to make it work.
You could literally play Uncharted 4 without taking much cover depending on how you wanted to approach the situation
