Not a knock against Bend at all, it's a knock against Jim/Sonys leadership
I don't see what Jim or Hermen had to do with Upper Management firing the sole writer of Days Gone and then the other director leaving once they declined the pitch for the sequel. Studio was in limbo and staff were placed on different projects to avoid layoffs until they had their new IP pitch greenlighted.

After winter maybe? They’ve revealed their lineup thru June for the most part. Until then should be game by game promotion. Latest May. I think March should be when to expect it.

We don’t know what’s coming for holiday 24. I think death stranding is for sure the later half of the year; maybe summer even.

The studio was in limbo because Sony's leadership made them so, bad decision making and foresight from top to bottom.

Don't expect a flurry of announcements. SIE doesn't have enough studios. They show their games slowly, one or two games...the rest of the show is third party stuff or timed exclusives.

So, State of Play is safer for them. A Showcase sets expectations so high, people get disappointed later.
Don't have enough studious ? Someone better phone they FTC & CMA & let them know

Bend yes, they just started working on their new game in 2022. ND, idk they wasted 4 years on Factions 2, but why not Sucker Punch? July 2024 will be 4 years since Ghost of Tsushima came out, we should get an announcement for GoT 2 sometime this year, with hopefully a 2025 release date.
I want a new infamous found got too boring so only played an hour of it

This is one of the instances Jim and Hermen can't be blamed. Bend's management simply wasn't interested in doing a Days Gone 2 after they fired Garvin since it was his creation.

GoT is far more lucrative than Infamous. But I would love a new Infamous game as well. Unfortunately Sucker Punch didn't wanna become a two game studio. So we are getting a sequel to the better IP.

I'm not talking about the creation of Day's Gone 2 at all, I'm talking about Bend wasting 3 years of dev time. A 1st party AAA studio of their calibre should never be relegated to doing a PC port and being support studio. It shouldn't have taken them 3 years to start working on a new game. We should've already had an announcement from them by now on their next project, but the Jim/Hermen leadership is beyond complacent.

1 hour isn't enough....

To be fair first light and second son do have some really tedious sections, still love the games but I can see why some people would give up on then.

I was never a big of the spray painting mini game that often wouldn't work properly on the ps5 controller

The team didn't waste 3 years though? I'm not sure if you bought Days Gone but the team spent all of all 2019 working on the game with post launch support and patches... Which concluded end 2019.

With the Pitch for the sequel dead some were placed to work on the PC port, others sent to Naughty Dog to help out with TLOU Remake and Factions
and was in the process of doing a new Uncharted spin off game... Once the New IP was approved they canned the Uncharted game and was eventually moved off Factions once pre-production started for the New IP.

I guess you'd rather the studio get massively downsized instead of management moving their staff to Naughty Dog while they fixed internal issues.

They did waste 3 years... patching your buggy game and adding a few things isn't something to commend lol, it's to be expected and only takes a tiny team to do.

How does me saying "they should've started working on their new IP sooner" somehow equate to me wanting them massively downsized?!? 🤦‍♂️ bro what, where the hell did you get that from???

They didn't add just a few things. It was literally weekly updates for the game for months on end outside of patches and other minor aesthetic inclusions. Yes their game was buggy but i also do commend them for going above and beyond with attempting to keeping the world they created alive and fresh for users.

And did I literally say you wanted that to happen? You keep refuting what I am saying, so I simply give the only other alternative that would have happened to the studio had they not moved their staff over to Naughty. Sony Bend had no lead writer, Creative Director or Game Director once upper management declined the sequel. It was a very toxic development road because of Garvin... Sony themselves had to intervene at one point to get him in anger management.

Either way I expect a faster turn around with this project since they are also gonna be using some assets from DG and the co-op aspects were more than likely stuff that was already pitched for the sequel.

Showcases exist to sell people on games, so the fact that you do have a lot of "smaller" stuff coming out does mean that you should have one. I'd say late January, since that release slate starts hitting in mid-to-late February.
1. Those are not "smaller" games.
2. No, those games have already been showcased at previous State of Plays and Showcases.

The marketing would begin near release for each game, which may or may not need a State of Play.

Post Launch is normally done by the internal studios though, it was single player content / challenges and patches. As for the PC port it was to keep the devs busy, as how they also were the ones who worked on porting and trophy support of the Syphon Filter games for PS+.

That makes sense. I just thought normally a very small portion of the team is left doing post game.
I just wish the rest of the ream started there next game after a holiday and then got someone else for the PC port and other stuff.
