What Are Sony First Parties Even Doing?

I don't like the silence either but all the big studios have released major games within the last 4 years. Since 2020 we've had TLOU2, Ghost of Tsushima, Rift Apart, Miles Morales, Returnal, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, God of War Ragnarok, and soon Spider-Man 2.

We also know that Ghost of Tsushima 2, Horizon 3, and TLOU3 are in development and those will all be amazing.

My recommendation to PlayStation, ditch PC and put Nixxes on remastering some PS3 classic games, that will help fill the gap in between the big releases. Similar to what Nintendo is doing. They'll make way more money than the pitiful PC ports, and will actually improve and solidify the brand instead of devaluing it. Also buy/create some smaller studios, we need more mid size/smaller/AA games like Gravity Rush, Astros Playroom, Sackboy, and Knack. As well as more VR support.

  • ND: just released TLOUP1 on PS5+PC and Uncharted Legacy of Thieves on PS5+PC, released TLOU2 before that 3 years ago. They are working on TLOU online and multiple SP games.
  • SSM: recently released GoWR, are working in minimum the next GoW after GoWR and -since 2018- in Cory's new IP.
  • Bluepoint: recently released GoWR as support team, working in another new game as support team.
  • Valkyrie: recently released GoWR as support team and ported GoW to PC, pretty likely are supporting SSM on their next projects and/or porting something else.
  • Bend: released Days Gone + PC port around 4 years ago, they are working on a new IP using Days Gone mechanics and systems.
  • Insomniac: recently released Rift Apart and 3 PC ports, will release Spider-Man 2 soon, Wolverine next and have at least another game under development.
  • Sucker Punch: released GoT+GoTDC a few years ago, are working at least in GoT2 since 2+ years ago.
  • San Diego: recently released MLB, will continue releasing MLB games
  • Guerrilla: just released HFW+DLC and Horizon CoM. Working on at least Horizon 3 and Horizon online.
  • Firesprite: just released Horizon CoM, working on multiple games. Apparently one is a narrative adventure and another one is rumored to be Twisted Metal.
  • Media Molecule: recently stopped Dreams support (was released 3 years ago) and moved to work on a new game.
  • Housemarque: recently released Returnal+DLC+PC port, working on a bigger new IP since a couple years ago.
  • Sony London: released Blood & Truth 4 years ago, are working on a MP new IP set in a fantasy London.
  • Bungie: Working on Destiny 2 Final Shape, Marathon and more games, pretty likely being Matter one of them.
  • Firewalk: Working on Concord since they founded the studio in 2018, to be released next year.
  • Haven: Working on $Fairgames and in engine/dev tools stuff for PS Studios.
  • Polyphony: Recently released GT7+GT7VR, working on GT7 content and make sure they're working on GT8.
  • Team Asobi: working on a light hearter 3D action game with humour bigger than the previous Astro games.
  • Nixxes: recently released several PC ports, will continue releasing several PC ports.
  • XDEV: working on more 2nd party games than ever.

If those massive AAA studios are going to stop producing other games for years while working on PC ports, what was the point in buying all those other studios that specialized on PC ports?

According to the game credits and LinkedIn the whole studio worked on Ragnarok since 2020 until almost its release, so they weren't working in anything else other than GoWR until released it.

When released GoWR they didn't have a complete design team to lead a new game themselves, so since they said that moved away from remakes and remasters, pretty likely after Ragnarok are working again as support studio for another new game.
Damn thats a shame. I was hoping they were working on something after Demons Souls. Great studio and with all there hints, I thought they were working on something

In the recent years -covid related hardware shipment constrains aside- Sony has been more successful than ever. Particularly their big 1st party games.
I know, but I expect more exclusive PS5 games from them at this point from 1st party

Sitting back trying to be like Xbox Game Studios...

Insomniac being the only ones with ambition.

Though I am honestly excited to see Housemarque New IP they're working on.

We haven't seen a single thing from Naughty Dog in almost 4 years, except some artwork. Heads should be rolling over there but Hermen is too busy drinking beer on his Yacht with his girlfriend, to be do anything productive.
Well druckmann has been spending most of his time on his TV show so it's not surprising when the person Sony put in charge of the studio is more interested in doing TV than games

Which is why heads should be rolling over there because one man shouldn't be overseeing all the projects, when they aren't even the best developer at Naughty Dog 🌚.

Let him go be a mini Kojima with his own Studio and let others take the reigns so Naughty Dog can be efficient again.

Exactly?? So almost 4 years except Factions Artwork? The fact they couldn't even reach the stage they could have had a trailer ready for Factions... enough to have major restructuring taking place there.

Kurt Margenau and Shaun Escayg should have instantly been given their own team within Naughty Dog to lead YEARS AGO....

In fact Kurt Should have been the one given the keys to the Uncharted Franchise once Neil got Amy ousted... not Neil. We would have still had Bruce Straley at Naughty Dog if thats how things played out.

Then Great? Remember when we were suppose to see it this summer? And Naughty Dog is in no position to support a GaaS game maybe it's a blessing in disguise that Bungie killed the game.

Im still hoping they have more than one team, at least for the future. Thats what Sony should be doing, expanding some of there best teams to have more than 2-3 teams.

Naughty Dog had 2 teams making Unchated 2/TLOU and Uncharted 3. I know projects got bigger and need more dev but thats on Sony to invest more. Its not like they are splashing out buying huge publishers, they need to expand there current teams and also buy more

Sony first parties are doing videogames, same as they always did.

Nowadays AAA games need at least 5-6+ years of development, and Sony tradidionally doesn't show them until they're around a year, or a year and a half, from release. Sometimes even only some months before release. So be patient.

Firesprite is basically the resurrection of Sony Liverpool Studio (Wipeout, Psygnosis), Evolution (Motorstorm, Driveclub) and Bizarre Creations (Project Gotham Racing, Metropolis Street Racer, Geometry Wars, Blur) combined and mixed with young talent and people from multiple other AAA studios.

Sony didn't part ways with them. They are fine and working on new IPs.

We don't know the platforms of the next Toyama and Udea games, we don't know the publisher of the Toyama game and both could be supported by Sony via Shuhei Yoshida's PlayStation Indies.

Came here for the ass kisser. Never fails.
