I know the year isn't over yet, but just wanted to know what your nominees would be. For me it's:

Baldur's Gate 3
Final Fantasy XVI (my personal GOTY, Spider-Man 2 might change that (it did))
Zelda TOTK
Hogwarts Legacy
Sea of Stars Alan Wake 2
Spider-Man 2 (I know it will be amazing)

Honorable mention - HiFi Rush and Sea of Stars

Update : Spider-Man 2 is now my official GOTY. Sorry FF16, still an amazing game though

The last will likely be filled by Spider-Man 2 but since it isn't out yet, I'm not including it. I think it will end in the order above with Sea of Stars getting the Indie spot and the moral victory. The only way I see Sea of Stars not competing is if the new Mario game is godlike. Baldur's Gate 3 will smash it. Zelda is not my personal favourite Zelda style but it has an audience. I don't see it winning as the air is gone from it unlike how BotW was where it was spoken of years after. Final Fantasy needs to release a few constant great quality game releases in a row to be taken serious like how RE4make is running because RE2make crawled. I think that Final Fantasy VII Part 2 will win next year. Bold prediction this far out.

SF6 won't be nominated for goty, just best fighter. And I agree about remakes, they should make a best remake/remaster category for TGA.

I haven't finished BG3 yet, but it addresses some of the biggest complaints i've had with video games, and that is quality narrative driven side quests alongside a world that feels alive.

There are decent games i've played this year like jedi survivor and a few others, but not sure i'd put them on my GOTY list.

Spiderman 2 remains to be seen where it lands.
