But we will look like clowns if Sony announces layoffs next week before their shareholder meeting on the 23rd. Maybe the success of helldivers and Stellar Blade put a stop more layoffs.
Will we? I don't recall people being QUITE this upset over layoffs. You may recall that Microsoft recently laid off 1900 people, many from Bethesda. There wasn't near as much outrage. Heck, there's not THAT much outrage over Arkane Austin post-Redfall, though people think they deserved another shot. It's Tango that has people shocked. That's the one getting the backlash. It's proof not even universal acclaim can earn these studios another shot.

Ninja Theory is for sure next on the chopping block
The Initiative has been effectively shut down ever since that head guy left a few years back and Crystal Dynamics came on board to "support" development of Perfect Dark.
Double Fine is safe if they delay their games in production until this shitshow blows over
Compulsion is probably already on life support

Also WTF, I was unaware Tameem already left. Yeah Ninja Theory is absolutely cooked.

It's really sad this is the kind of things we speculate on. All of this could have been avoided, but people even cherished the consolidation.

i truly didn't think the execs at xbox expected all this heat to be on them after spending almost $70 billion. It kinda makes no sense to me either. Like, why even approve this insanely huge acquisition if it just means you are going to gut the division afterwards? Let them take the big swings they wanted to take, or stop them from making the acquisition in the first place.

I don't understand if you are being sarcastic here, because after spending such a sum for a DYING part of the company, I bet even the janitors at Microsoft had an eye on them.

Who knows, maybe these layoffs and studio closures were part of the deal to get the approval for ABK.

Well critical acclaim from the "gaming Media 2024" is less useful than dog poop. Money talks but Tango also got hard done by releasing as a shadow drop on a subscription service on the least popular platform so there is that. Anyways it's their fault for making a rhythm action platformer on a AAA budget and hoping it sells gangbusters. I couldn't be bothered to play it for free on a gamepass trial and there must be millions like me that can't be bothered to play it even if it is free

Politics and internal conflict surely happened ever since the CMA tried to block it. After being driven to deals where the impact of foreclosure was both delayed and considerably lessened, ROI became an imperative.

There is no doubt, the original plan was to starve the competition of content. What is happening now is the fallout of things not going as planned.

Tom Warren doing his part to try to divert attention away from Microsoft.

Comparing region locking to gutting 4 studios with more on the way sure is a choice, Tom.

They have a game releasing in less than 10 days and it's like nothing is happening. This is the game they announced alongside the Xbox Series. About 5 years of "hype". :ROFLMAO:

I bet they're going to lose a bunch of buyers from the forced letterbox thing alone.

Who am I kidding? No one was going to buy this game in the first place. They're just going to try it on a month of Gamepass and never look at it ever again.

Has to be Ninja Theory, HB2 is going to financially flop and i don't see what else they have to offer.

Its wild that Phil spent all that money on studios and bought all the shitty ones.
