Sunset Overdrive was a Xbox exclusive on a console that a lot of people didn't want because of the whole DRM debacle

A new Resistance game by today's Insomniac Games would do really well

I wouldn't mind if Bluepoint remade Resistance 3 🤤

Making new IPs is hard and Insomniac actually created pretty successful IPs they just didn't have the rights to them.

Ready at Dawn was on a roll until they tried to take the next step with their own AAA IP, had to rush it out the door and now they are stuck under Facebook.

There is a lot more that goes into a successful new IP than just being a competent studio.

As for MS, their studios seem to have a hard time working on already established IPs and they haven't have a new successful IP in ages. Not a single IP people associate with Xbox was created under Phil Spencer (who was made general manager of Microsoft Studios about 14 years ago). Forza, Halo, Gears, were all already existing IPs, it's borderline unbelievable how little success they had with new IPs.

I mean look at the one gameplay trailer. There is a reason why they only made one gameplay trailer so far. It's pretty much a big expansion of the GOW 2018 game. Same game just more of it. Like Ghost of Tsushima and the Iki Island expansion.
A DLC that takes 4 years to make? 😂

Sony manages their studios and IPs better. There’s reason to believe that newer partners like Housemarque and Bungie will only improve with Sony’s backing.

Can’t say the same for Microsoft. They’re just vultures. They’re not too successful at making games either. Buying Minecraft and CoD? Sure I guess that works too when your entire games division is creatively bankrupt.

Fallout 76 for many reasons has been more successful than Division 2, Anthem, Avengers and outperforms Halo Infinite on PC. It’s an interesting online game for sure. Haven’t played it since next gen launched but the efforts to keep that game going and improve it into something interesting is a pretty huge success story IMO. However I’m still unsure if it’ll stay ongoing with any major content. It might be done with.

Even Halo and Gear were bought.

It's crazy how much money they spent to get CoD (that is pretty much all Activision part of Activision Blizzard amount to now) and as we've seen with games like Battlefield that you are never too big to fail. As for Blizzard lmao, it's like buying Bioware in 2022, all you get is the name.
