nah I wasn't paying attention to whatever that was
I mean your not alone. I didn't either. I've always heard people talk about it on the internet but not really much attention to it.

I don't I despise YouTubers & 'influencers'Nobody under the age of 50 even cares about game media, younger people go to Youtubers for Game news
Go troll on ResetEra. We don’t need you here. What are gamers supposed to be pissed at in the current leaks? Sounds more like "delusional Sony fan"gate to me.
No, they care a lot about power dynamics, I would say that the "equality" crowd cares only about that (or as they say, everything is about power). This is what sensitivity reading is all about. As for workplace harassment, well obviously it's bad and should not happen, but where I live it also have come to a point where not inviting someone to a group drink after work can be considered workplace harassment, same for a meeting or other gatherings, it suffices that the person thinks it's against them in some way.No, that was just the cover story. They had a point on the ethics of journalists but the reason why it blew up was because it tapped into a deep reservoir of resentment at the perceive loss of male exclusivity in certain quarters. Same reason why there's special vitriol towards women sports refs, the pushback against "wokeness" like sensitivity training and workplace sexual harassment laws, etc.
The other problem is the pendulum swung too far the other way and now everything is "problematic" and people use wokeness as a shield and cudgel to beat down people they disagree with or dislike without actually caring about equality or power dynamics.
Yes of course the reaction to stuff like sexual harassment is too extreme in the other direction, if you put systems in place people will abuse it and now you have to walk on eggshells. No, they care a lot about power dynamics, I would say that the "equality" crowd cares only about that (or as they say, everything is about power). As for the sexual harassment, it has come to a point where maintenance employees are not allowed alone with a female employee in many places, just to avoid any misunderstanding. Or again, HR looks at the oppression score cards when dealing with workplace disputes, no worries about the actual merits of a claim/counter claim (I know a nurse who was physically abused by her black colleagues and she was forced out, this is but I've example).
Nothing good came out of the woke ideas that guilt trip their way into actually hurtful policies.
The operation is always the same:
Claim there is nothing done for problem x (it doesn't even need to be an actual problem), then offer you expensive services as a DIE consultant to fix it.
People are waking up to the manipulation and they're voting the associated politicians out.
Oh well maybe people should have listened in 2014 and this wouldn't have happened. Hard to say it was "perceived loss" and then complain it "swung too far the other way" when the original point was, you know, that the pendulum was swinging that way already, hence the reaction. Sensitivity training is just a layer of restrictions, much like Hollywood now has quotas in place to get your movie nominated for Oscars, just like studios like Amazon/Netflix have quotas for how they make their products. No value judgement, but a layer of regulatory governance on what products you make based on social and political factors sounds terrible for creativity. We already saw this reaction to Ghost of Tsushima. Maybe for the sequel it'll be like the Japanese AC game and have an African protagonist so they can stem off some of the criticism of "racism".No, that was just the cover story. You’ll notice nobody is fighting for equality these days, it’s equity they are after. Demanding equality is a valid and honorable fight. Demanding equity is entitlement and taking away what others earned. No, they care a lot about power dynamics, I would say that the "equality" crowd cares only about that (or as they say, everything is about power). The fundamental problem is that most people are good, but the environments that are bad will stay bad (even with all the laws there are still places with bad sexual harassment, see bobby kotick & actiblizz). But everyone gets punished.
I know for a fact that gamergate was fueled by misogyny though because i did a lot of browsing on 4chan at the time and that was where a lot of the energy behind it was coming from. Like I said, they had a point on journalistic integrity but it was like 25% of the energy behind that movement. The most unfortunate thing is that grifters like Anita Sarkeesian took up the flag on the "feminist" side and completely botched it and turned it into a laughingstock.
Yes, because nobodies milking the algorithm are TOTALLY honest and incorruptible!Sjws and gamergate were both as bad as each other, legacy media has always been corrupt and terrible anyways. Just look at the Bias towards Microsoft, i would not be surprised if they have been paid off.
I trust Youtubers a lot more

Cucked losers, you say?Gamergate was the fundamental severing of the gaming community into two halves, one half good, the other half cucked losers who want secrets hidden and the in-group rewarded.
There were a few key mistakes the "forces of good" made early on that really hurt them and to this day has hobbled their arguments. Alas, its too late to go back and tell them to not embrace shit like Adam Baldwin's stupid reaming and ignore the media.
You do know I'm on the same side as you on this issue, right?Cucked losers, you say?
Good to know what group you classify yourself into!
I can't attest to the relative importance of each factions, but I did see people going overboard with judging what others did in their personal life. However, a bunch of nobodies gossiping on some internet forums/social media does not excuse the industry siding with the extremists and shaming gamers for being gamers (cutting corners here).Yes of course the reaction to stuff like sexual harassment is too extreme in the other direction, if you put systems in place people will abuse it and now you have to walk on eggshells.

I will pass on something I learned in the time of blogs. The new/small ones may be good now, but at some level if someone starts in this field they want attention and they will do what's necessary to grab it.I don't mean clickbait large channels, im talking smaller ones like thegamingbritshow that really go into depth about what they are talking about discussing everything from mechanics to story.
He was the only one talking about how underrated Jak 2 was and how Ratchet and Clank 1 was actually the best one in the series.
Youtubers/streamers are the gaming media these days.Nobody under the age of 50 even cares about game media, younger people go to Youtubers for Game news
I can't stand "mainstream" gaming youtubers. Nearly everything they say comes across as artificial and I have a hard time believing they're genuine. WorthABuy is good in this respect. Even when he has a clearly biased and subjective opinion, you can tell, it's not some vague positivity with a mild critique nestled within to remain "marketable" to companies. But I much prefer channels like PatricianTV, MrEdders123, I Finished a Video Game, since longer form content like that is much more interesting than opinions on a new game.Youtubers/streamers are the gaming media these days.
Long form is one of those things that is a tell of someone trying to actually communicate something meaningful. Those videos right above the 10 minute mark to get monetization are an easy tell on garbage content (mostly).I can't stand "mainstream" gaming youtubers. Snesdrunk imo is great. He uploads a 5-10 minute about a game tells you if it’s good or not and then it ends. I like that.I can't stand "mainstream" gaming youtubers.
