The only value of delineating "generations" is identifying general tiers of performance. Undertale was released in 2015. It's incoherent to call it a "generation 7/8" game. Slotting Nintendo hardware into "generations" after 2005 only confuses people, but if you must, Switch sits alongside the PS3, 360, and Wii U.

I said the market is fluctuating and 40 million is not bad but I think by this point the switch will top it overall. According to vgchartz it outsold the wii by a bit.

Honestly though, we were all saying that games would change under the subscription / streaming model.... of course they will be made to farm time and push up statistics for Microsoft to announce in an investor meeting.
All their first party games have been moving towards this, less finished at launch, filled with grind or 'make your own fun'.

Let's be real tho, the switch is an anomaly because it competes with both ps4/one and ps5/series x despite also being a portable and a home console, so it's a bit of a special case in most discussions.
On topic, everyone besides Nintendo is on a downward trend imo, MS hasn't had the same impact since the 360, Sony's big focus on GaaS and a relatively quiet year coupled with the plus price increase is not a good look. Switch is underpowered as fuck but with a Switch 2 on the horizon, things might change a bit.
