HHG said that Sony would be publishing Lost Soul Aside 6 years before it happened. People thought he was wrong/lying, but he ended up being right!

He's always ahead of the curve, if what he leaked hasn't happened yet, then it's only a matter of time.

These aren't predictions, most of these "leakers" just make a bunch of random guesses

Hiphop gamer is not reliable.

Not sure why PS and Nintendo are going this route after having there most successfull selling generation of 1st party titles. PS4/Switch.

Xbox's best days were the 360. Huge sales for games like Halo 3 and Gears. Just before they went day 1 on PC.

I wonder how titles like GOW Ragnarok, Spiderman 2 and Horizon 2 have sold compared to there previous titles before they did PC ports....

PC dudes won't be buying Nintendo games if they go on PC in my opinion. That PC crowd gets triggered by a free launcher (Epic game store). They rather pirate a game even if the game is offered for free on that launcher. Lol. They'll even pirate rather than pay for a subscription if the subscription is offered at $1.00. The PC dudes are going to stick with emulation with Nintendo.

There's more to console gaming than just controller lol. If Steam actually wants to improve and create a "console like experience", then they should bring optical disc drives back to PC! And start asking 3rd party companies to print physical discs for PC, with NO DRM.

If they ever do that, they'll have my full support.

Do you think the trend on consoles is toward physical media?

I don't care about trends but it's definitely not trending towards digital.... PS5 games were selling 60%+ better physically as of 2022. That ratio is even higher for Nintendo games.

Worldwide, over 70% of console software is digital.

Totally arbitrary demand to put on PCs when the whole industry is moving in one direction.

So you're just gonna completely disregard my comment to push your baseless agenda, as you always do. And I knew you would post this nonsense, 70% is really bad considering all the digital only games, the dlc, the microtransactions, the older games no longer sold at retail (bloodborne, days gone, ratchet and clank 2016, etc), and more. All those figures pump up the digital market share. Physical > digital, get over it

I'm not pro or anti physical. Physical and digital both kinda suck in different ways. But you can't act like a SNES cartridge represents The Console Experience in 2024. If I insert a God of War Ragnarok disc into my PS5 for first time, it's going to do about 40 minutes of installation from the disc and another hour of downloading updates. It's more like the PC experience of 1998 than anything.

Nope, PC in 1998 was 100% physical, very few updates, nothing like today for sure.

Circa 2004 we got Steam, then we got to the point where most PC game boxes only contained steam codes pretty fast.

PC gaming got back from the mid 00s dark ages thanks to digital downloads. Physical media stopped being a thing 15 years ago on the platform.

I have a collection of more than 700 records built since I was a teenager. But you can't beat the convenience of Spotify.

At most, physical games should become a niche, premium market like vinyl records. Lots of physical games are no more than the disc and a couple sheets of paper. That's why digital took over. Add more value to physical games and gamers will prefer them again.

PC in 1998 was not 100% physical. You had MUDs, MUSHes and MOOs that were completely online. Some of my earliest gaming memories were saving up the free AOL dialup month trial discs you got in the mail to play some of the online games like Gemstone III. But yes, the vast majority of games came on floppies or CDs (although by 1998 floppies were pretty much gone)

They say nothing beats Vinyl; is that true?

I think vinyl these days is overrated. But won't deny that as a collector, having albums in vinyl instead of a jewel case is much more attractive.

The master recording used in vinyl or CD is the same these days, so audio quality won't be automatically better because you got a vinyl version of it.

But if someone were to tell me, I trade you your 700 CDs per the equivalent vinyl version I would do that in a heartbeat. I wouldn't have space at home to store them all that's for sure. With CDs I can manage.

Steam exists in the first place as a solution for delivering Counter Strike updates.

In 1998 you got multiple CDs with a serial key. You installed the disc, and then you had to go get the updates from the publisher's website.

Oh the joy of sharing a single disc at a lan party and having everyone use a single serial number so you could all play lol
