that's not the plan that we'll announce today, even if it's grenlighted and we're already working in many other future ports and even day one releases.
Fixed

You don't test the waters like this. You start the rollout with those titles. MS going 3rd party.
They already more than tested the waters with all the Minecraft, Bethesda and AB games. They aren't testing anything here.

similar to how Sony is approaching PC ports
Yes, but with the difference that unlike with MS, PS has a super successful and profitable business in their console which is their main gaming business and main corporate business, so won't kill it releasing all their games elsewhere day one.

Sony will keep releasing each year more PS exclusive games than PC ports, which means the number of PS exclusives will continue growing every yer. And aside from some of their GaaS, their ported games will continue to be releasing in PC 2 or more years after their original release on PS.

Phil " just 4 games released to PlayStation, no promises on future games."

What Phil really means is, we are testing the waters with a couple of titles as we are shit scared of the backlash if we announce more at the moment

Best rest assured we will put a lot more on other systems once the pushback has died down.
That’s literally what Tom Warren wrote on his article.
Era and bots are coping, though.

It's clearly not the case that they will release more exclusives than PC ports "every year". We'll be lucky if we get 5 first party exclusives, and they can pop out a new PC catalog port at any time.

As for the 2 year wait, I think that's going to get tighter and tighter. Sony's still not at the stage where the main devs are handling their own ports, and that has to happen. The leaked Spiderman 2 build shows they're maturing. When that becomes the norm, I don't think it flies to wait 2 years to release a product that was ready at launch. Especially when the live service stuff is selling equivalent to PS5 on PC.

We're in February and there's already more than half a dozen games announced to be released this year on PS and not in PC, both from 1st and 3rd party. More will be announced during the rest of the year as happens every year.

Sony will release a couple GaaS day one on both places and maybe 2 or 3 ports (maybe HFW, TLOUP2 and Until Dawn?). So yes, 2024 will be like the previous years where there are more games released on PS that aren't released at least at launch in PC.
