You love to make up numbers I see.

For all we know, PS had a ccu peak of 30k, but we don't know because Sony is too afraid to show of ccu numbers. At least Valve has the balls to show numbers.
He's right, you're wrong. Whether or not PS has/had more CCUs (engagement lol), the facts are that IW sold 180k physical in the first week in Japan on PlayStation.

"For all we know" it sold 40k on steam and everyone was logged in at once. That's it. From the available stats, Playstation sold more. Period.

Nope. You have nothing to go on other than the numbers from Japan. You are too deep into Playstation too see anything else.

There are none, that is the problem you have. You just write "Playstation sells better" and leaves. At least this time you brought some numbers from Japan, so some progress on your part. Otherwise you are blinded by your own hatred for PC and love for Playstation.
That's not a problem I have. That's YOUR problem. We have evidence in support of what I've said and NONE for your feelings. No matter how much you hug your PC tower at night, it's not going to change the fact that it's tied to a dying platform.

Please don't take it personally, once Xbox died it was important to correct the disgusting narrative that Steam creamers have been perpetrating upon the populace, so PC gets my ire. It's a great platform for spreadsheets.

Show us any evidence PC is the biggest platform for Yakuza. Keep in mind the series was PS exclusive for 20 years and some titles were Japan-only 🤡

Googling it, it appears that Final Fantasy VII Remake sold 5m copies in 5 months on PlayStation 4 which had a user install base of over 110m so Rebirth would have to sell 2.5m copies in 5 months with PlayStation 5 having a user install base of 55m which it does as of now to where it's basically the same thing. People saying that it under performed have to know the actual numbers and the user install base numbers. Also, unlike Remake, Rebirth is selling at $70 instead of the $60 that Remake sold at. Not only that but Rebirth is a "sequel/part two" to a three part trilogy so some may not buy it if they didn't already play Remake even though this aspect could be evened out due to that double package being available with Remake and Rebirth together for $70.

I don't think it really works that way, the 55m ps5 owners will be more likely to buy the game since the more hardcore fans are the early adopters. I would say that I'd be expecting 4m sales in 5 months if it was a 1-1 comparison, but given this is a direct sequel it should sell a bit less. I have to think Square isn't expecting more than like 3-3.5m sales in the same period.

I’m not sold on the installed base is the problem. We know GOW R sold well and same with spider man 2, Harry Potter, Elden ring, cods, etc. The ps5 can move software.

I think the problem is more fundamental what the game is and how that is perceived. First off it’s a trilogy, that’s not inherently a negative thing but I think that’s a factor. Yes mass effect was a trilogy and it sold well but sequels were only like 2 years apart all on the same hardware generation. This is 4 years apart on 2 console generations. But I don’t think that’s the main thing.

I think what the fundamental issue is now that it’s kind of established knowledge if someone wanted to get into the remake trilogy is that’s not actually a remake. It’s this pseudo sequel remake, thing, that’s also a trilogy. I think THAT is the fundamental problem. People didn’t ask for that, they wanted a remake of the game they loved.

I understand from the developers point of view that a straight remake would’ve been boring or something, but a pseudo sequel and now time travel plot narrative is just way too much IMO. The thing is, they can’t change it now, it’s too much baked in.
I think they could’ve been slick if they made hints of it along the way, and then at the end of part 3 it could’ve been this big reveal kind of like fight club, where if you rewatch it you notice how everything makes sense in context to the twist.

I hope part 3s development isn’t effected by under performing sales. I like what I’ve play so far of rebirth. We’ll see what happens.

The hardcore fans buying the console early on in the life cycle doesn't mean that they'll buy every exclusive game (first or third party) day one though. Add in that it's a sequel/part two is definitely another factor. I just don't think the game is doing as poorly as everyone thinks that it is.

Spider Man 2 though is the only game that isn't cross-generation. Did Sony, WB and Bandai Namco release the actual sales numbers for the PlayStation 5 version of GOWR, Hogwarts and Elden Ring?

I don't believe that it being a trilogy or being up to eight years between the first and third game releasing as being a major factor because Square Enix and those developing the game made it very clear that this is what it was going to be years before releasing Remake so anyone going into Remake should have already been well aware of that.

I know many would have preferred a single game remake but when you consider how massive Rebirth is while also adding Remake and one being area linear based while the other is open world so to speak, I don't believe that it would have been possible to pull off. Also, they seem to make major changes in several areas/aspects that obviously wouldn't happen if it was just a single game.

I agree that PlayStation 5 can move software but I think one factor is Square Enix releasing Final Fantasy XVI eight months earlier which could lead to some people being fatigued with just the franchise and wanting more separation/break from it.

I don't think the final part will be impacted whatsoever because they already made the commitment to it and to somehow not at the very least match Rebirth would probably do harm to the franchise especially since it's the finale and those who played and completed both Remake and Rebirth will definitely want an amazing end to the remake trilogy.

Rebirth was an excellent 9.0/10 game for me with my biggest negative being the side quests and the normal open world formula checklist type stuff. After that, it was just quality of life stuff like not being able to turn off damage number and customizing the HUD, etc. But otherwise, an excellent game and my current 2024 game of the year even though im not expecting it to stay that way for long for me.

I ignored him so didn’t see that he responded, of course the Xbox to PC fanboy would disagree 😂 I’m surprised he’s still around.

Honestly I don’t think these people understand

We would not be getting these big budget FF games if it was not for Sonys funding to Square

MaxDood literally said this trilogy would not be as high budget and big as it is without Sonys big upfront payment

Sometimes not everything is about sales. It’s about having greatness attached to your name.

How is that picture of Alex related to Final Fantasy? And why is that poster calling for violence towards Alex, just because he wants FF on PC? What a mean spirited person.
The issue is…

Alex said Xbox exclusives are good for the industry when talked about all Bethesda and Activision games.

At the same time he hates Somy exclusives.

🤷‍♂️

Of course people will get mad at him…

Btw the picture is shared by Alex, he likes these type of photos… plus there is nothing violent in the guy tweet.

True

I mean look at quantic dream latest game star wars eclipse

Ever since quantic dream part ways with sony

Progress seems to stutter

Never heard any news for years now

Either lack of financial backing from sony or some sort of internal problem
