Xbox cancelled their E3 showing this year due to a marketing budget cut from Microsoft

I know this place has a hard on for MS hate, and the OP is clearly on the spectrum, but does anyone actually believe this?
well I don’t know if anyone believes it but it’s clear now that E3 is useless for the console manufacturers, nobody needs it and it’s a money sink. Also, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that MS cut marketing budget since they never really marketed Xbox THAT much.

It's so hard for us we already got a GoTY contender in the first month with at least a few more coming in the next couple.

Hifi rush is not a GOTY contender ffs. Neither was Stray and they’re the same level. You can say Starfield will be but that remains to be seen.

Their 2022 showcase was fantastic. Who the hell is pining for physical E3's today anyway. They don't even do booth babes.

In all honesty, I rated the Xbox 2022 showcase a 6.5/10 or some shit like that. Out of 30 games, only 5 were of interest to me and all 5 were already previously announced. I don't want every Xbox Showcase to be a Game Pass only showcase because I do want to see third party games on there (exclusive or not) because I know most Game Pass day one games aren't going to be for me because I don't care about the vast majority of Indies and the AA titles they get are rarely those that I want to play.

I do prefer a digital showcase/event over physical simply because it's a more precise tight show with very little to no fluff. The Developer Directs is where they can have the talking about their games and whatnot.

Fantastic in terms of the content they showed, lots of in-game or in-engine trailers and less CG announcement trailers. A far cry from 2018/2019.

I have a feeling we'll be pleasantly surprised. If not "THE GOTY", I expect it to get a lot of noms and wins in music and graphical categories at least.

I am sorry but I don't see this game getting GOTY.

Only sensible GOTY contenders are Starfield, Zelda Tears of a Kingdom, Diablo 4, Spiderman 2 and FF16.
X out Diablo 4 and that's probably your list unless Nintendo has some sort of surprise for us in Q4. (3D Mario, where are you?)

Seriously, modern day Blizzard is trash they haven't made a legitimately great game in over a decade. You could argue they haven't made one since WoW.

Yeah if diablo 4 releases smoothly would be such accomplishment. The previews were mentioning network problems which we know they not gonna fix months after release

I beg to differ - Dragonflight is fucking incredible and Diablo 4 is looking like it will be absolutely Stellar. Original OW was good, but sequel is doo doo. Starcraft 2 and all of its expansions were amazing.

Hearthstone spiced up the card genre. Diablo 4 will reignite ARPGs.
D2 Remake is phenomenal as well.

Can't wait for them to set the standard for the Survival Game they're making.

That's gonna be a heavily trafficked bridge cause a lot of people are saying the same thing 🤷‍♂️

Let's be fair, a lot of those people are diehard warriors who always do this with the newest Xbox exclusive. At some point Scorn was GOTY for some of them.

Keep in mind, some of the same ones voted Halo as Player's Choice, but likely also dropped it after two months. They just go with what's popular ATM to hype the brand. But I'm sure there are some people who are genuinely into HiFi and think it's GOTY.

Personally I can't speak on the game, haven't played it yet because no to PC Game Pass folder problems in Windows and no to Denuvo (I COULD stream it, now that I think about it...might try that, actually. Got my $1 ready 😁), but from what I've seen I don't think it's something that'd win GOTY in any other previous year, or this one coming up. I don't think that many regular people are going to pick HiFi over Street Fighter 6, Zelda, FF XVI or Spiderman 2, let's be completely honest.

Lets see what you have here:
Dragonflight: Probably fine, doesn't look great though. At this point I'm not going to touch WoW, too much new stuff to play but am glad that they managed to get it back to "okay" after the last few expansions.
Overwatch: Totally over-rated. A fine game, but not great or even innovative, except in its marketing.
Starcraft 2: Dog shit. Ugly bullshit, worse than the original, which most people then went back to.
Hearthstone: Card game, don't care and never played.
Diablo 2 remake: A remake, impossible to fuck up (except they totally did with Warcraft, which I see you neglected to mention.)

I can't help but notice you neglecting to mention the most relevant comparisons to D4 though, Diablo 3 which launched awful with the auction house fundamentally breaking the game and an art style I didn't approve of to boot and the recent mobile Diablo which is apparently a money vacuum.
