of course was wrong when is not focused on facts.

It was absolutely based on facts. And another fact is that there's political pressure in the form of US politicians that receive money from Microsoft going very public on this. If people think the UK didn't bend over due to them almost being the 51st state... I really have something to sell you.

Also, stop with the shitty low effort drive by comments. You add zero to any conversation on this forum.

Yep, this decision basically means Microsoft can buy any publisher they want now since they're in last place. Since that's the only logic regulators seem to operate on. I shudder to think what the gaming landscape looks like in a few years after MS has successfully pulled the rug from under the regulators.

So it seems that Activision Blizzard is probably approved without even concessions. This will force Sony to spend money. They will announce Square Enix in 2023 I think. Then they should go after Capcom in 1-2 years.

Square enix and Capcom are literal bird shit compared to COD revenue. There is no acquisition that is similar for Sony to do. Probably only buying Epic could settle the playing field but I don't see that happening.

I really don't like this world of consolidation, but even with lower resources, Sony should absolutely try and target the likes of CDPR, Square Enix, etc. It's the only way they'll have a fighting chance.

People keep forgetting Google and Amazon are also in gaming. Like I said previously all of the gaming industry is now for sale to be biggest bidders. We the consumers have more to lose than gains

Only people that are too dumb to see 1 metre away from their nose think consolidation is good. This will force Sony to acquire more, it will force Google and Amazon to try bigger acquisitions if they want to join the market, and the fewer players we have, the shittier product we get and the more we'll pay for it.

There isn't a single instance where market consolidation is good for the consumer.

I guess the mistake in the CMA's calculation is what threw it oh well. I would rather MS had invested in their own studios along with some indies and bought out some smaller studios that actually need the financial stability.
I hope Xbox users like mobile games and COD cause it sounds like that's MS's focus now that the Bethesda/smaller studio purchases hasn't swayed the console market the way they wanted.

While true I doubt either of them could buy anything bigger than Call of Duty for playstation. This is the biggest multiplatform steal, literally nothing else could compare besides EA and fifa.

Also people need to stop saying Sony can just buy anything, clearly the CMA is saying that only the console market leader buying things would lessen competition, so Sony could not get away with the same thing that MS just got away with.

the salt is amazing.

90% of the forum are Playstation fanboys wet dreaming about the deal being blocked, MS being the evil or complaining about reseteta banning anyone speaking against MS.

you cannot have a real conversation with people living in a fantasy.

the only thing left is having a little bit of fun.

Man the gloating and Playstation bashing is about to be insane for the next several months. Just stay off era and twitter.

They'll gloat, I'll be playing games. When any games from Microsoft that I want to play release, I'll get a Cheetos code for Gamepass for 1 month free, play the game, and cancel. It won't stop me from playing the games I want and I won't be giving them a dime. It will stop many that don't have a powerful PC and don't want / can't buy one or an Xbox, and that sucks though.

I'm glad I built a decent PC in case their next target is someone with games I really like. This really sucks though.

MS is an absolutely evil corporation. But I guess several astroturfing scandals, union busting, not complying with regulatory mandates, laying off thousands of people while spending 70B in acquisitions... Makes them the good guy.

You live in a fantasy world.

As long as you use any of their crap (Windows included), their power and influence grows.

That maybe does apply for the gaming companies in the west but for sure not in Japan. Japan forbids hostile takeovers. Japanese doing mergers behind the scenes. Sony would have no problem getting Square Enix and Capcom.
