look at the "facts guy"

this is why i mean you cannot have a real conversation.

Please point out where I was wrong.

MS has ~16B revenue from Xbox. ABK has ~8B revenue. Sony has ~25B revenue from Playstation - this is pretty much parity revenue wise.
Xbox Studios already has more studios than PS Studios, and they will be adding around a couple handful more.

So again, where am I wrong?

I see a lot of people wiith the coping mechanims of: 'now sony must buy this, this and this".

this could be true, sony could be in a position in which the HAVE to buy a publisher, and there is probably only one that will be a direct answet to ABK.

but this is the the thing. you are not buying a toy, you are acquiring lot of people. but the most important thing you are forgetting:

PLAY STATION IS THE DOMINANT COMPANY.

acquiring a big company that triggers the Regulators investigation will have bigger odds against PlayStation. use your brain people

sony would be smarter spending like 1-2 Billion having and exclusive deal for GRAND THEFT AUTO VI.
The first time you make a serious post, you get it all wrong lol

He seems to ignore that Sony’s revenue will decrease and MS’s will increase… why are we taking this guy seriously again?

Regulators AROUND THE WORLD evaluate acquisitions based on their impact on the MARKET. meaning: the amount of revenue of a company is irrelevant. (it that would be the case; MS wouldn't be allowed to do shit)

MARKET SHARE is a more important and relevant factor.

Play Station has a way bigger market share. there are places where Xbox is practically none existent .

and in a lot of of those places, ABK games are not even that popular.

If I were Sony, I'd just pick up Square and start offering 10 year deals if regulators say anything. They have to make some series moves in order to stay competitive, because as it currently stands, Xbox first party is now significantly larger than Playstation's.

Market share is directly tied to revenue - even if it's not the only factor.

And what you just said again proves something - allowing a platform holder to consolidate a couple publishers while they failed to compete despite having more money / resources is a bad move from a market standpoint. Their market share is low not because they were foreclosed, but because customers didn't want their product.

Thanks for playing.

While true I doubt either of them could buy anything bigger than Call of Duty for playstation. This is the biggest multiplatform steal, literally nothing else could compare besides EA and fifa.

Also people need to stop saying Sony can just buy anything, clearly the CMA is saying that only the console market leader buying things would lessen competition, so Sony could not get away with the same thing that MS just got away with.
You think Google, Meta and Amazon or Apple will not be buying EA, Ubisoft? the odds of that happening increased 100%

Yeah Sony cannot, also because it doesn’t have the same monetary power as Microsoft. Nintendo is in an even worse state that Sony’s , although Nintendo can buy studios they are a gaming company only, once again they also cannot afford to take risks.
Microsoft is so big it cannot fail, if they wanted they could afford to destroy the gaming industry because their income and main business is not gaming. Same logic applies to Google etc.

I hope I am wrong but …

You seem to not understand how market share is calculated… 😂

To add upon this: Sony has virtually no market share in the cloud distribution sector, and Microsoft is the second biggest player (of what is almost a duopoly). This move will allow them to move millions of customers from AWS to Azure, effectively shifting market leadership and lessening competition.

That's one example, though we as gamers (I doubt you are one @ChorizoPicozo since you thrive on acquisitions and not discussing games) have concerns for the gaming part of this acquisition.

Furthermore, Xbox is a division of a trillion dollar company, whereas SIE is a subsidiary of a 100 billion dollar company.

The same regulators that have allowed companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Facebook, to pretty much control huge sections of the market unopposed?

I do think sony will be fine in the short term, assuming they do have 10 years left with cod. Microsft will no doubt run cod into the ground and talent will leave if they havent already. What sony needs to be concerned about is if/when microsft goes for another publisher, if they can. Whatever contingencies they have should this deal go through, they need to hurry up.

keep living in your little mental bubble of fanboyism.

I play
- PS games on the PS5
- Nintendo Games on my Switch
- Xbox and 3rd party games on my PC

My library has over 600 games, both physical and digital, spread across PS Store, Nintendo Store, Steam, Epic Games, Paradox, Gog, among others.

I'm the fanboy though.

No, those companies can buy whatever they want. I'm saying there is nothing important left to be had after call of duty. Besides maybe fortnite or FIFA, call of duty was the biggest get, and now it's gone. All of the other publishers left are less consequential than cod was to playstation.

not here. where 90% are palystation fanboys seeking confirmation bias.
All I see is people who are thinking about the overall impact this deal might have on the industry. So where are your facts about that 90%?

Also if you do not like it, leave? I’ve been on gaf and been treated badly, same on Reee and I am not even emotionally attached to brands.
There’s no space for much freedom on speech on those places.
I think this site is healthier and more balanced.
