Discussion Honestly Is it Time to Abolish User Reviews? what do people think review bombing accomplish?

Best part of Steam reviews is I can see how long they played the game at the time of the review and how long they continued playing or not. Really helps filter some positive and negative reviews.

Discussion Most messed up & bleak games

Closer to Home is a 2D indie. It's somewhat flawed because there could be more gameplay to it. I like the atmosphere a lot though. It is thoroughly depressing and bizarre with a lot of creepy imagery and surreal stuff. Very angsty with lots of death themes. Most messed up bit is toward the end

Discussion Helldivers 2 will require Steam players to sign in with PSN account, led to review bombing games & refunds. |UP| Gamers organizing to revert reviews.

Yeah, but Microsoft bought it in 2014 and the requirement of MS accounts happened in 2023 (originally planned to be 2021 but pushed back). https://www.theverge.com/2020/10/22/21527647/minecraft-microsoft-account-mojang-java That reminds me of Rocket League. Epic buy it in 2019. Big review bomb...

Playstation February was a great month for PlayStation console Exclusives! Six of them coming in hot!! Sony is carrying 2024 in general.

Did they change the meaning of exclusive? 4 of them are on Windows. 1 is even on macOS. Foamsters and Rebirth are exclusive. Genuinely confused about the reporting here.

News Sony president Hiroki Totoki officially begins his role as interim CEO of PlayStation. What are your expectations?

Greedy guy embraces plan that undermines company foundations. Have fun with that.

Discussion What would it take for y'all to be ok with PlayStation on PC?

I didn't say I'd prefer a powerful PC. I'm on the fence about it and in no hurry to get anything. If Sony have a good line up of exclusives I'm very likely to get a Playstation. If not I might go elsewhere or get nothing new. That's the short of it. One reason I lurk here is to see what's out...

Discussion What would it take for y'all to be ok with PlayStation on PC?

This. I still don't have a PS5. Am currently keeping an eye out for a slim or pro model and exclusives will be important. I bought previous Playstations for exclusives like Tekken, God of War, Gran Turismo, Resistance, Shadow of the Colossus. For me it's a question of convenience, price, and...

Discussion What Makes A Great Competitive Card Game?

I used avoid this sacrifice style of play but recently have been trying it more and it's an exciting strategy. (not talking about Gwent specifically, I played that for a bit a while back and liked it but never got deep into it after hearing it was going to end) The randomness is an interesting...

Discussion What Makes A Great Competitive Card Game?

Quick games, long games, a board (positional strategy), maths, shinies, insane combos, something else? Just curious what others think. I've been playing some CCGs more lately. Often going for games moving characters around a board. I finally tried Duelyst 2 and surprisingly it still has about...

PC INSIDE APPLE'S PUSH TO TRANSFORM THE MAC INTO A GAMING PARADISE

I dunno. I had a 2012 Mac Mini with SSD and used it daily for over 10 years. It's in the cupboard now. Along with the old Playstations.

Discussion IGN Apple iPhone 15 Pro gaming interview "It's going to be the best gaming console"

Technically they do have some small exclusives via Apple Arcade. Such as Horizon Chase 2, Lego Castaways, and dare I say it Butters' favourite game Hello Kitty Island Adventure. It has timed exclusives that are later ported to Switch or Windows, Oceanhorn 2, Bleak Sword. It's easy to write off...

Discussion Are you Retro gaming in 2023?

I'm still having a hard time accepting PS3 as retro, regardless, I played through Lollipop Chainsaw recently and had a lot of fun with it.

    Multiplatform Indie Games Chat [OT]

Fair enough. I just remembered the other similar one in dev is Stardeus. I'm most interested in Last Starship and tempted to grab Starsector when it moves to Steam.

I've not played FTL (sat in backlog). Similar themes. I think Last Starship has a bigger focus on building ships, piloting, and you can have a fleet. Here ya go.

I can see myself getting well and truly sucked into The Last Starship for hundreds of hours before it reaches version 1.0. Even if all I do is optimise spaceships. It's the new game from the Prison Architect devs. Spent a lot of time on that. TLS is very early days but I can see the potential.
