    FFV was probably the best job implementation of the series. Except, comically, FFX-2 for some reason. I was a bit disappointed they'd moved away from it as the games progressed. I hadn't even heard Metaphor had a job system! That's very interesting!

    Consoles will always have a place in the market as a low cost competitor, which are specialized for gaming. At least so long as people continue to use local devices, instead of streaming the games through things like GeForce Now, etc.

    Tbh, I start pulling Dragon's Dogma 2 levels of CPU processing power when someone greets me in a hallway, and I have to remember the correct response to their greeting. Usually it just ends up as an Oblivion NPC level of interaction. "Hey, ___ how was your weekend?" "Thanks, and to you too!"

    At least in the immediate short-term, it would be fairly irrational not to port live service games to a variety of consoles, since they basically live or die off the network effect.

    Yeah, I actually assumed they were going to be doing one year staggered releases, until they got to the point where they felt comfortable doing cross-platform launches on a regular basis.

    It's actually a bit tongue and cheek after a while. When I was playing, there were rooms where I would be like "Alright, which table and or corner is it gonna be around this time?" Only to inevitably check the wrong place and get smacked from behind.

    I do think it's fair to critique whether consumers will tolerate the cost of hardware prices in the future. I already know among my younger relatives who can't afford to build a 4080 PC rig, they're just shelling out the $20 per month or whatever from their allowances for Geforce Now.
