I don’t get why people say Playstation is worse now. Back then, they couldn’t even get a few games out consistently, and the PS4 was a barren wasteland for the first half of the generation.

Trolling doesn’t mean shit if you want to play games. The PS5 launched with great content and it keeps getting great games consistently. It's Xbox gamers who feed on trolling, shows, and empty promises. Don’t become an Xbox gamer. Don’t seek your Phil Spencer. Play games.

People love to pretend that the PS4 was flawless, but I legitimately went weeks without turning my ps4 on during the early days, I would spend more time playing on the Vita than it, It only got a lot of use during like, 2018 foward.
Ps5 having backwards compatibility is great because of this, I've used mine so much just because I can replay some games, and I get to still buy ps4 releases I didn't play.

PS5 is currently in a major drought.

Funny, I'm using mine to play Gundam Battle Operation 2 every day, Finished spider man last week, I got Sakuna, Rune Factory 4 (replaying since my 3ds is no longer with me) and Mafia 3 on my backlog, My brother who uses the same console is playing Mafia 3 and Elden Ring.
During the real drought in early ps4 we got to play Infamous Second Son and Cod AW maybe.
There's a lot to play, on both Xbox and Ps5, you're just refusing to acknowledge that Multiplats count and older releases count too.
And if you wanna narrow it down to just exclusives, FF 16 is coming soon, and Final Fantasy games are huge

Sony was never against all digital, they were just offering it without pushing it too much. I would say the games with PS+ made a lot of people switch because they noticed the convenience factor.

Broken shit is true, boring is subjective, but if Fallout 4 and 76 is an indication of their current quality, I don't expect Starfield to have good gunplay or writing.
All elder scrolls games were good for their time, and modding skyrim to make the combat more modern makes the game way more fun.
Btw we all know it's gonna run poorly on every platform right? I'll be surprised if it actually runs decently on ANYTHING.

Sony's average is one first party game every three months this generation since launch through May 2023. Have some been in the same month and have some been after a gap? Yes but that still doesn't change the average time of getting a first party game. I'm perfectly fine with Sony. While majority were disappointed with Sony's showcase as was I but unlike others, I have at least three games from Sony for 2024 excluding third party exclusives like Rebirth. And of course, Spider Man 2 this October. Can't speak for anyone else but im good.

Probably some shit back in the 70s but as best as I can remember, the Genesis's Sonic stuff from the early 90s.

It's slightly under 3 months through May 2023 but will go to just above 3 months once Spider Man releases. Basically, 3 months. I don't discount multi-platform games. It's what people play more of because there's way more multi-platform games being released than first party games every year.

As for Spencer, his plan is one first party title every quarter on average which I do see happening because he didn't say AAA level, just first party. So you can get an Ara History Untold in between Avowed and Hellblade 2 along with something else in a year and that would be one game every quarter. I can see a game being say February and then June but still, it would average out to one game per quarter which is fine by me. I want Microsoft to spread out their games (which is why im hoping Hellblade 2 is March 2024) instead of having a shotgun blast in the last few months of the year.

And Jim has absolutely nothing to do with that. I can’t believe people are STILL giving him undeserved credit. Whatever success PS5 has is off the strength of the amazing PS4 gen, meaning the groundwork laid by past leadership. Don’t expect that to last. The only thing Jim and Hermen have done is raise prices, close Japan Studio, aggressive focus on garbage live service games, and devaluing the console with PC ports. Look how horrible the last showcase was, that’s what you should expect all generation.

Let's forget they made some grave errors at the launch of the PS4 by putting games like

Beyond Two Souls

On PS3 right before around the PS4 launch which Shu eventually admitted he regretted.

They learnt their lessons and switched over games from PS4 to PS5 or made sure they were cross gen this time around. That's the only difference.

The current PS5 situation is exactly what they faced in 2014.

Sony biggest issue for the past 5 years is communication. No issues with chasinng a new audience but shouldn't be done at the expense of the core audience that got you here.

Can't be understated how Sony still haven't recovered from Losing Adam Boyes. He was the unsung hero of the early PS4 days. Once he left 3rd party relations started crumbling and the indie support cratered for awhile..

A 6 hour DLC, a multiplat. FFXVI is the only exclusive game since GOW and it’s third party. After Spider-Man, PS has nothing.

I really don't care where the games came from.... I'm enjoying the games that are out.
