You drank the cool aid. MS still does the same things Sony did over 10 years ago (digital only console, streaming, etc).

There is no short term benefits, their eco-system is starved for exclusive games, their rental service is no better than the competition (I don't care for either)... All MS really have is a social media presence and a bunch of non-gamers shill (obviously, they have nothing to play but CoD and other generic games you can get anywhere).

I wouldn't say that I drank the cool aid because as easily as I switched to Xbox as my primary gaming console for this generation, I can just as easily switch back to PlayStation next generation. I went from PS/PS2 to Xbox 360 to PS4 to Series X as my primary. Am I heavily favoring Microsoft and Xbox this generation? Yes but I did the same with PS4, 360 and so forth. I'm always going to favor my primary just like those here favor their primary which is PlayStation. The only major difference is that I don't get upset over what Microsoft or Sony does or doesn't do. I simply use what they both offer to my benefit and that's literally it.

I agree in regards to the exclusive games but compared to the first 2 years of PS4, Series X has been better for me quality wise. Quantity no but quality yes so I have really no valid reason to complain. Also, if 2023 gives me 2+ exclusives for the year and I complete both of them, then to be honest, im not going to care about the empty 2022 year. Hell, I don't even care now because I have 5 games in a 6 1/2 week span starting with A Plague Tale Requiem. It's not like I don't have any games at all to play.

Exclusive wise, I have had droughts with Sony and PS5. There's always going to be droughts either due to there not being any exclusives in general or there's exclusives but they're not for me. Both sides have had droughts for me personally but that's where the third party multi-platform games come in. There's always something for me to play. And always will be.

I see Game Pass as better than PlayStation Plus because of the day one games, exclusives or multi-platform. Multi-platform wise, I had Outriders, The Ascent, have Plague Tale Requiem in another week and I have a few scheduled for 2023 where as of right now, Sony hasn't added a single day one game that's of any interest to me. And im not expecting them to either because I don't see them spending the money required and even if they do, there's no guarantee that the game is for me. Microsoft adds so many day one games that percentage wise, I know im going to average at least 2 a year on Game Pass excluding Microsoft's first party games.

I simply don't have any major issues or complaints with what Microsoft is doing right now. I like their direction and I like that they're staying very aggressive with acquisitions. I'm way more hyped and excited for their game roadmap than I ever have been. Do they have issues and whatnot? Yes. But so does Sony and every other company. No company is perfect nor will any company ever be perfect.

I also didn't have any major exclusives for PS4 until 2016/2017. I didn't complain that the first 2+ years was "meh" for me at best so why would I not be the same for Microsoft and Xbox this generation? If 2023 ends up empty or shitty, I guarantee that no one will rant more about it on this forum than me.

Even if nobody buys them, they will stuff as many of these POS into the supply chain as possible and add them on as if they are sold....

Sony should get all the unsold PSTV's and shove them in the supply chain too...... shove 30 -50 million empty plastic boxes in the supply chain and count them all towards the final console count.

Companies should not make decisions with those customers in mind because they aren't their core customers. If a customer is willing to engage, he would have bought a console already. There are core customers that should get the undivided attention of both companies. People keep saying "this doesn't affect me" but Nintendo did really saved the gaming market many, many years ago because a lot of people said "it is crap but it doesn't affect me".

Nintendo resurrected gaming in 1985 and it was great but what they do now isn't for me personally and I owned a Switch for two years. Their games just aren't for me but it's great that they're doing amazing and their direction of a hybrid console is perfect for them as a company and for their fan base.

Companies can focus on their core/hardcore audience but only to an extent because as even Jim Ryan has stated, you 20m hardcore PlayStation fans aren't enough. I don't consider myself a hardcore fan at all for any company and even if I did, it would be for Ubisoft and even then, they do so much stupid shit that it's like, meh, whatever they do, they do. The core/hardcore fan base is simply the vast minority and companies will always target what they believe to be the vast majority because that's who they want.

Most just stay with what they love and prefer, good or bad which is why companies go after the casual audience and the vast minority because they know they have the hardcore. Could be the future, yeah, in that case the future is really crappy. Local computing is the best way forward, so it really is against the core gamer. The guy who just wants to just play a beyond stupid racing game that is on rails, looking at ashpalt, while waiting for the bus, yeah, he would list the pros of cloud computing.

But the funniest thing of all, is that i hear from the same type of gamer saying "streaming/cloud is the future". In the future we will have connections ranging from 1GBit to 10Gbit (each and every one)? Meanwhile the same people argue that the green console has the better looking experience than the blue one cause it's HDMI has 48GBit instead of 45GBit. That for me is beyond hilarious. It is a mixture of hypocrisy and ignorance that makes perfect examples for a stand up tech comedy, if it ever existed.

I do believe that streaming games via an App on your TV with a controller in your hand and similar to that is the future. I don't think that it's the immediate future. I believe that it's more 15-20 years from now but companies like Microsoft aren't going to wait that long to get into all of that. They do it now so they're already set and established when that time comes and they want to be the first company to really dominate this area. Google dropped Stadia and Amazon doesn't do much with Luna. So they have no legitimate competition as of now when it comes to game streaming so why wouldn't they invest now especially when they have the money to do so?

Also, and people don't realize this. Keeping their money in a bank with low interest isn't giving them the returns they want so instead, it's better to invest that money because if it fails and bombs, it's still worth the investment due to the potential future revenue that it could end up bringing to the company.

Spencer, in all his hypocrisy has tried to show the exact opposite, the "i do not care about numbers, only for your pleasure". Can you guess who attracts more gamers around him in this generation? Gates never wanted to enter the console gaming market, but he had to protect Windows. Windows is not Sony's platform, even if launching software on Windows automatically adresses millions of people.

Streaming is a shitty choice for us gamers, there is no argument suggesting the opposite, so there is little to be added about it.

Yes also Download speed / Upload is determined by how close you are to a Junction, Which also effects Ping.
But if you have slow down/up streams you are going to have a bad time anyway you look at it.

I agree that streaming is a bad option now but it's just that - an option. Microsoft isn't forcing me, you or anyone else to play their games that way. It's just an option for those who perhaps travel and want to play a game on their cell phone or whatever the case may be.

I'm not a fan of Jim Ryan because he's a pure business man and I get that but Hulst should really be the spokesperson/PR guy for Sony and PlayStation because he comes off as more consumer and gamer friendly where as Ryan doesn't. I don't have a problem with Ryan trying to increase Sony's revenue. In fact, that's what he should be doing in all honesty.

I don't agree though that Ryan has devalued the PlayStation brand. If anything, he's making it bigger. He's also making their IP's more valuable by having them be available on PC and when you add in movies and TV shows, there should be a lot of growth their for those IP's and Sony. Devaluing the consoles is minimal at worst and should always be sacrificed if it means growing the IP's because the IP's are forever and far more valuable than any console in any generation will ever be due to the fact that they have an expiration date.

Spencer obviously attracts more gamers because he is one. Ryan isn't but Ryan wasn't promoted for gamers and fans. He was promoted to make Sony more money.

I own both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. I think both have their strengths and weaknesses. I just want to see console gaming be like the Wii/Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 generation where granted, Wii was 15m or so ahead but they were all up each other's ass. That's what I want to see because it will make all the platforms better and make them all compete harder for your time and money.
